Although interesting as heck to read about, does this recount of a broadcast for the Proclamation Of The Irish Republic really count as a pirate operation at the time? Read-on, Ya know, it could be viewed as a 1st Clandestine Broadcast. I duh-know, what do y'all think?by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Oh yeah? Well check out all of these TIS stations that have sprung up within the last couple of years in WV, Huh, interesting since all these communities are suppose to be really hurting for $$$$$$. They have had to spend at least $10K per station if they bought them all brand new, and FCC certified. Nearest one to me is Ripley, WV, about 40 miles from me. I've heard the 1620KHz one in Brby ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs

Ripped from SWL'ing: This could be an interesting one to watch as the future of radio as we now know it could change,by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Yep, ripped this from SWL'ing as well, Never had the R75, but got the transceiver equivalent to the famed R71A, a.k.a. the IC-745, still rockin'. Still, I've certainly considered the R75. It will be missed.by ThaDood - The Workshop
FWR from SWL'ing. Not the funnest subject to check out, but.....by ThaDood - General radio discussion
I'm glad that someone did that VID, Now, I wonder if 9330KHz is next with that number station going over that WBCQ FREQ.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
From SWL'ing : I see perks and jerks to this proposal.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
2/13/2016, about 7PM EST. While warming up a car in the driveway, tuned to find Ani DiFranco on 1630AM. Station then ID'ed as KCJJ Iowa City, then local news, followed by the wrong James Bay track. A live DJ broke in and did an "OOPS!" and then cued up the right track. (WOW! A live music DJ on commercial radio that admits an on-air mistake? I haven't heard that in a while.) Ya know, in this new age of entitlement, I figured that I'm entitled to be a smart-ass once in a while, So, I put my $0.02 worth in the comments.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Thank you David for giving me this link about a web accessible SDR, and more, I haven't had much time to check this out, but there's other techie goodies to check out in this site as well. So, if you want to hear what's heard from that side of the world, (Including yourselves. Hi-hi..), here's a way to do it. UPDATE: Oh, found out the hard way that only 4 users at a time cby ThaDood - The Workshop
This Valentine's Day weekends is expected to be possibly record cold of -0 degree temps. Yuk, I didn't ask for that. Anyway, the couple of plus sides to that is less lightning crashes and better DX possibilities for DX'ing on MW and even the LW bands. Our last cold snap last month, Cincinnati's WLW 770AM just walked in here like a local station, when normally I can just hear it in there from wherby ThaDood - General radio discussion

Yeah, perks and jerks will come if LPAM is more of a reality here, if LPTV is anything as an example. When LPTV 1st started out, it did offer TV into communities that didn't have it before, or in big cities, it was an outlet for alternative TV programing. Sadly, many of these stations then turned in to just translators, PI only stations (Where they'd just air infomercials 24/7), or off-air extensby ThaDood - General radio discussion
Yeah I heard about this from SWLing about this, And here's their article about it, So many net only stations have gotten their start here, so they'll be missed.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Well, this is nice to have, And it looks like anyone may have a hand into making it even better by adding addition info. Nice tool.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Man!!!! I'd love to throw this in the truck, . Better than .5uV from 2.3MHz - 26.1MHz, but is actually widebanded to go from 100KHz to 30MHz, with reduced sensitivity on the lower and up ends.by ThaDood - The Workshop
YES!!!! I think that this is a great idea, I was proposing near the same specs as our TIS AM stations state-side, but their power proposal could work here, especially in metro areas where LPFM space is impossible. Let 'em run with it!by ThaDood - General radio discussion
This sucks. They had some neat niche kit projects. And even if you didn't like how a kit was designed, you could modify it to suite your needs. I guess now we have Vellmen, Cana-kits, and MFJ, left.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
You might have heard WAZU. I'd gotten word from da' street that they might be up thar' on 40M this weekend. Now, if we can keep those solar flares away to hear those Euro-pirates on 21.460MHz. Hmmmmmm...by ThaDood - Free Radio Logs
The DXer.ca site has been on the air for over 20 years now! And we are now pleased to announce... the return of the DX Podcast! We ran this little show way back in 2008 and it never got a lot of traction - we are starting small and with our first episode, a conversation with Ian McFarland of Radio Canada International - recorded New Years Eve - December 31st, 2015! Enjoy.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
I've ripped this from SWLing Post. I've translated the article from francais to English: Extinguishing medium wave As of December 31, 2015 24:00, issuers medium wave broadcasting in the Radio France programs permanently cease transmitting. These transmitters broadcast far France Info, France and blue RCFM France Bleu Elsass. Stopping the broadcast mode on medium wave (at 31 Decembby ThaDood - General radio discussion
That's all I heard in the upper MW flipping between 1710 - 1720KHz was an S5 - S7 carrier on 1710KHz, no MOD, at 06:15UTC, or 1:15AM my time. Was somebody tuning up?by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Aye nope, nope. That Radio Free Thinker dude use to send me links to download his shows so that I can air them, and he hasn't done that in month. Radio Spaceshuttle must have grounded himself, since I haven't heard him take flight in a long while either. Hmmmmmmmmm......by ThaDood - General radio discussion
12/18/2015, 03:25UTC, heard sporadic "E" propagation from OK, MO, and AR. The CB channels were jamming from there, then tuned to metal tunage on 27.095MHz AM, a double shot of Cinderella, then ID as Hair Nation (An internet stream channel.), then BOC, then few seconds of dead-air, then R&B, dead-air, country mx, then finally off at 03:40UTC. It wouldn't be so unusual to hear music jby ThaDood - Other logs
Paul Riismandel, of Radio Survivor, did a write-up on Art Bell's departure, Thus far, I haven't heard anything else in the media about this, and probably on purpose.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Listening to Midnight In The Desert on shortwave's WTWW 5085KHz last night, I was surprised to hear a substitute on for Art. She wouldn't really say what was up, but went with the time traveler interview, until Skype crapped out (Who'd a thought?). Anyway, when that happened Art called in to spill the beans about what's up. Some asshole shot at him when he was walking around outside of his house.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Finally, heard 6M open up around 22:00UTC today, and of course, the 11M CB band was going nuts from either FL or MN. Nothing thought on 10M and 12M bands. Figures, but very weakly heard WWV at 25MHz then as well. So, if anyone want to try a Sporadic E shot on the 11M broadcast band, 25.600MHz - 26.100MHz, there ya go.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Well, as long as I was posting on that Radio Survivor site, there was one blog asking about LPFM studio gear, and mixers, so I rang-in, This is more of a good test, if anything, to see if Radio Survivor is mainly by the book snobs, or if anyone there really can think outside the box. Here comes the hate posts? We'll see.by ThaDood - Other logs
I chimed in to the Radio Survivor blogs this subject and my $0.02 worth. Paul Riismandel asked me a couple questions on LPAM issues. Hopefully, I answered them. You don't have to log-in there to read these, If there is an interest to have some sort of LPAM get off the ground, this is where it starts, with us discussing about it.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
