FCC has posted that they are going to be in a "partial shutdown" during the government shutdown. Might be a good time to jump on the air and have some fun, eh?
WASHINGTON, December 22, 2018—Brian Hart, Director of the FCC’s Office of Media
Relations, issued the following statement regarding the FCC’s plan for the partial government shutdown: “Because of available funding, the Fed

John was as class a person as any that I have met in Pirate Radio. He spent numerous hours with me in separating all his personal stuff from the FRN website so we could use it exclusively for Pirate Radio. My heart aches for the loss of this wonderful human being. God bless, rest in peace and Pirate Radio was better off for your tireless input and efforts.

Art Bell was a great guy and good friend to the "Free Radio" cause. He did a lot of things behind the scenes to help free because he couldn't do it in the open and offend his network and advertisers. Art will be missed and while he may be a "silent key" his voice and programs will live on for many, many years. Godspeed Art, you will be missed.

AM revitalization won't be a reality until they do something about the crap programs that fill the AM airwaves. I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel just a bottomless pit of crap that AM stations shovel out to listeners.

I will admit that I LMAO while reading this. But just for fun lets see what the Brain Trust at the FRN can come up with as a response to:

Is there a noise problem?

I have read all 74 pages of the FCC's "AM Revitilatization" proposal and have a couple of views. I won't go page by page as it would be pointless, like much of the plan.
1-you can't save AM by moving station simulcasts to FM translators.
2-the modifications of the day time and night time coverage standards is only going to cause additional inference to adjacent channels.

AM revitalization? From the FCC? The FCC didn't make the mess that is now AM radio. AM station owners made it a mess. Cost-cutting, Bean-counting, Satellite-automation, lack of proper maintenance and programming shit that no one, and I do mean NO ONE wants to listen to for more than a passing moment. There will be no "AM revitalization" from the government (FCC). The only people t

Your input on this topic is pure gold. You were and are an innovator, inventor and creator. You provided a new avenue for Pirate Radio Operators to go into the woods and transmit from sites that were miles from any roads. Your invention made the the hobby exciting and vibrant at a time when it was needed. It allowed the studio pirates an affordable way to be On the Air Pirates. Th

Come on Bram, you remember Jack:
Jack Jones, is an American jazz and pop singer, popular during the 1960s. Jones was primarily a straight pop singer (even when he recorded contemporary material) whose ventures in the direction of jazz were mostly of the big band/swing variety. Jones won two Grammy Awards. He continues to perform concerts around the world and remains popular in Las Vegas. Jones

So the House voted Yes on the budget to keep the government open. Sent over to the Senate who voted for a Continuing Resolution to keep the government open until December 17th, when they (the Senate) must vote for a yearly budget. So this has been put off until December 17th. Lot of storm clouds brewing in the Senate over a number of issues, not the least of which is the bailing out of Banks,

Well today is supposed to be the day Congress votes on the funding bill that would keep the government open for business. However, there is so much crap in this funding bill that both Liberals and Right-Wingers alike are threatening to vote NO or not vote at all. The thing is, the House would have to also vote on an 3-day funding extension to keep the government open for the next three days unt

But............they haven't voted on it. Ain't over until the Fat Congressman belches! I'm still hearing that the Tea-Party folks are feeling underappreciated and want to flex their muscles until after the Holidays. Plus to your point JTA, the 2016 Presidential hopefuls don't want to have their name attached to another shutdown. And there is this:

The Conventional Wisdom on Capitol Hill is that there won't be a shutdown. However, at this writing, there is no vote schedule on a bill that would fund the government for the next year. The Tea-Party wing of the GOP is threatening to boycott any vote which means the Republican must depend on the Democrats to come through for votes. Plus there is a lot of "pork" being stuck onto anyt

First up for Congress returning from Thanksgiving: funding the government. The government will shut down Dec. 11 unless a funding bill is passed!
As in the past, Pirate Radio activity has been a boon during Government shutdowns. FCC keeps its HF direction finding station in Laurel, MD operating but staffed by one or two people. No one to answer the phones as they are on leave.
