Thanks for all the info! I had not checked out Spyserver but saw other DXers talking about it and guessed it must be to network the SDR. I was using the Pi 2 with an RTL dongle with OpenWebRX, and it didn't run well, not enough oomph in the Pi2, but I got a taste for the possibilities of what a networked radio could do and how to set it up. I was getting tones in some stations, and I think it could be local electronics, like when someone turns on their TV. Checking other Kiwi SDRs later, on average they are getting stronger, clearer signals from a given station in the 6.9 mhz range.
