Well, here's more info about Green Bank, and Mars, Talk about some DX!by ThaDood - The Workshop
Been there a few times myself. But, check out the VID's that Jeri did of this neat facility, Another site for the museum is here, And, even donated items to this museum, like a 1958 NAB FM Station MONO / Stereo Set-Up Test LP. I've tried to go to the other museum in East Bloomfield, NY, but could never find it open when I had time off. Anyway, enjoy!!!!by ThaDood - General radio discussion
More AM fun??? Hmmmmmmmmmmm, OK... I'm game.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Well, what I did work of the Rally, Sunday should have been better than Saturday. Saturday night, when I got back from work at stupid o'clock, all I heard was an earful of lightning crashes on 160M, 75M, and even 40M, due to T-storms in FL. Sunday, heard W7A picking them out on 20M, around 14.335MHz AM, but not strong, and too much SSB to fight around. 7290kHz and 7295kHz was nice around from 22:by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Took break from AM Rally to hear what's on 43M. Heard USB portion only at S9 peaks. Various instrumentals, except for the Phil Collins track. Nice clean audio, albeit lacking much bass.by ThaDood - Free Radio Logs
Ever been there? Green Bank, WV. It's well worth the tour, especially if one of the scientists do the tour, I 1st seen this on the SWL'ing Post site.by ThaDood - The Workshop
Radio transmitter engineers wanted WBCQ Radio is seeking radio transmitter engineers to work at our 500KW shortwave station. Come to northern Maine and get away from it all. Coming up this Stupid-bowl Weekend, and Hmmmmmmm, wonder if I'll get QSL requests from SWL'ers this year? I did two years ago.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
I've notice that too, there seems to be more AM stations with tunage, again. Radio Survivor has noticed that too, That, and Boomer found an updated AM Stereo Map on facebook, Neat radio dump site, but I didn't see the map. Maybe, y'all can play 'Where's Waldo' and try to spot that?by ThaDood - General radio discussion
This is a good read, and tutorial, that Boomer FWR me,by ThaDood - The Workshop
From Chris Smolinski's HFU post: Coincidentally I ran across this today: Part 15 Old Style Tube Broadcaster - Part 1: Part 15 Broadcast Band Transmitters part 2: NICE!!!!!!!!!by ThaDood - The Workshop
That dude a mile up the road from me, whom goes balls-out for X-mas yard lights, still has his Part #15 X-mas tunage station on-air at 101.3FM, even well after X-mas. This week though, station still on-air, but all dead-air. Huh... And, try this... Drive around with your car stereo on 87.9FM, and you may hear several stations come-in with various formats. That will happen if you are bored at a suby ThaDood - FM Logs
Yeah... Radio Systems had it and called it 'I Am Radio' and broadbanded the audio, so it didn't sound like music through a telephone. That's the one that I have, with the EXT ATU and antenna. MAX power consumed from the finals are a massive 92mW peak. (Ooooooooooooooo, it can light LED's.) Now, you can get the updated, updated, package here, You still may wanna' do the MOD's that I did forby ThaDood - The Workshop
This snuck up on me, I might try Sunday to work that. The contest that I'm waiting for is the AM Rally, I'm a lil' better prepared for that one, finally.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Lots of good info here, even simplified Carrier-Current Coupling,by ThaDood - The Workshop
I'm not talkin' about the official AM Rally that 1st weekend in February, but that informal rally they call the Heavy Metal Rally. It might be this weekend, Jan. 8th - 9th. Guess I'll burn the dust off of those 811A's. Might as well start talkin' about some fun stuff.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Under the bogus category. Ripped this from Chris over at The HFU, ?by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Just before work, I heard CB CH6 rockin', then LSB CH38, where I heard a dude from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Then, very weak, but heard Ft. Lauderdale again on 10M, 28.400MHz. Then, I had to go to work. However, on a COVID-19 Repeater Net, Net Control wanted to wrap-it-up to work GA and FL on 6M, just after 9PM EST. (Figures... I always miss the good stuff.)by ThaDood - Other logs
What was suppose to be an early IN / OUT at work on a Sunday evening turned out to be the wait from hell. So, scanned the AM band in the truck. KCJJ 1630kHz was mainly the clear signal winner with tunage. Wow!!!! They don't voice track, but are live, to 9PM CST? Huh... Stations around here in WV usually all voice track it from 5PM, onward. So, neat to listen to, and gave me the heads-up on the biby ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Apparent, according to the folks on The HFU, someone was on 1620kHz jammin' continuous X-mas tunage with no ID's, Promos, etc.. I thought that it was Pensacola, FL again, but maybe not, since I heard that in my drive to and from work in the truck. I didn't hear that dude on 1720kHz, so missed that one.by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Huh... Not only was I surprised with Amateur Radio Newsline putting out a show on Christmas Day, but the headlinds with radio pirates and landlords and FCC involved,by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Ripped from The HFU post. This package should be for more for Swine Flu for the amount of Pork Barrel that's in it. +90% of it having absolutely nothing to do with COVID-19. Geez... Certainly not a very Merry X-mas to us. This is a plain Merry X-mas, FU, to the MAX!by ThaDood - General radio discussion
From Prometheus Radio Project 12/21/2020: With the 10-year anniversary of the passage of the Local Community Radio Act and oral arguments in Prometheus v set for next month at the US Supreme Court, there’s a lot going on at Prometheus these days. We’ve been busy supp Low Power FM stations with advice and engineering support, and we’re preparing for new radio licensing opportun the FCC in thby ThaDood - General radio discussion
Must have caught the very tail-end of this. Various 2020 Election Hip-Hop Mash-ups. 6925USB. 19:44 - 19:47UTC. Signal S+20/9, but deep fades to S1. Low noise floor at my end, so could still copy. Used the Icom IC-745 to RX this, so my audio quality is always so-so, but as good as that rig could sound in USB.by ThaDood - Free Radio Logs
Well, here's a tour of that!by ThaDood - Other logs
Well, tell ya what, propagation at night this week has just sucked on the amateur bands. Even down on MW. I usually have to drive pretty close to my QTH to hear my Part #15 AM1620 at night, due to Cuba and Pensacola, FL duking it out on 1620kHz, but not this week. And the HAM's that I do hear on the regular chit-chat FREQ's, (1880Khz, 3810Khz, 3919Khz, 3995Khz, etc.), are bitching up a storm thatby ThaDood - General radio discussion
Anyone hearing FM stations to go with monster whole yard displays? A dude here is back on 101.3FM stereo with X-mas tunage. True Part #15 range, MAX's out about 1/8th mile in both directions.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Ahhhhh... This might explain things,by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Propagation just sucked on lower HF bands last night, so DX'ed MW. Surprised to hear a progressive EDM format on 1580AM, booming in at S+20/9. The only promo that I heard was, "CD 92-9". No doubt, (Minus Gwen Steffani.), a dump-off from an FM station. But, which one??? Heard this best at 07:30UTC, 12/3/2020. Any clues??? Neat to hear this format on the AM band, with a format not unlikeby ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
