Well, I have several multi-band AM / FM / SW portables that include the Japanese 76MHz - 88MHz portion. Before hand, they were great to tune-in to analog VHF TV CH5 audio, (81.750MHz), as well as TV CH6 audio, (87.750MHz). That said, I'm still not giving up my medium wave anytime too soon. That, and here in the USA we actually have several 8VSB digital VHF low band channels in use. However, for years the so-called UHF T-Band has been shared between TV UHF stations and commercial mobile radio services on a regional basis. (Still is.) That has pretty much worked for decades, so you'd believe that the same could be done with 76MHz - 88MHz between existing VHF low band TV and migrated FM stations. (Nah... That might make some sense here. We can't do that today.)
