FM stations obviously need more space, in my area it seems that almost every frequency that can hold an FM station is filled, but the FM band still has the same 88-108 mhz span as its had for decades.

I have a pocket radio that tunes from 76-108 mhz analog, so it technically should be possible to homestead new channels on lower frequencies, and new radios to be produced for that range.

Some would want to be on the AM band if it could be made easier for stations to use, such as allowing short antennas, synchronous operation with multiple low power transmitters located in towns. That could allow AM to adapt the qualities of other high tech nowadays.

I hope that 'Franken-FMs' on 87.7 FM with TV audio can hang in there and hold their frequencies, and show how they're providing service, Chicago's ME-TV FM certainly is, it's actually competitive. There are others with second language programming and might make the case that they're important programming.
