The Free Radio Weekly (FRW) is an internet newsletter devoted to the hobby of listening to free radio "pirate" broadcasters in the shortwave radio bands. The FRW is produced by the free radio community and distributed to those who contribute.

5/1, 2359, 6935usb. At 2359utc heard weak signal and a bit of the Twilight Zone theme then talking, sounds like old TV drama, I cant make out what they're saying, now hear Rod Serling give speech before start of episode. (Hassig-IL)

5/1, 0015-0016, 6952usb. MA noting the artist, Sugar Loaf, on FUBAR Radio and that the recording was screwed-up. (45454, Hunsicker, PA)

5/1, 0115, 6952usb. Zeeky with “too much sugar,” playing a request from HF Underground, Zeeky with many FUBAR comments, Osmonds request (Zeeky hated it but played since it was a request,) “FUBAR Radio live,” into a section of indecision where he played a few bars of several songs before settling on hard rock. 5/1, 0131, 6952usb. At 0131, yet another pirate is on tonight, S9 music; something about a tree house in the state of Washington? and ``Pooh-bah Radio`` (?); ``Sound of Silence``. 4/29, 0119, 6925usb. Looped phrases ending with “It’s about time, gotta get outta here,” part of what sounds like one side of a transmission (mostly unintelligible,) goofy music, pause, clanging gong music into rock, Zeeky discussing programming tonight and goats, goat bleats, Zeeky talking about his goat herd, goat bleats, ID, thanking several other pirate stations for their forbearance, "I honestly think this should be fun," probably an Easypal waterfall image (didn’t have the decoder going,) off. Started poor, improved to fair. (Taylor-WI)

4/30, 0031, 6925usb. Zeeky’s program of AC/DC music with talk of how much he likes music, replayed an ending riff he particularly likes, discussing how he and his wife chose the music, reviewed HF Underground logs (including mine … “cheesehead,”) radio conditions, said goodbye, a digital signal (didn’t recognize it,) waterfall image (“Goat herder radio,”) pause, back on with one more song, then really off. 5/1, 2220-2243+, 6925usb. Mostly music from the year 1965 (Herman's Hermits, etc.) OM DJ. Peaking at 10 dB over S9 in central Kentucky. (Gay-KY).

5/1, 2235-2246, 6925usb. Male announcer saying a tune from 1955, Played an Eric Burton and Animals song. 22:43 Id as Goat Herder Radio. 2246 disappeared. Weak (Poor) signal (Majewski CT)

5/2, 2118, 6925usb. Two songs by Tracy Chapman, Heaven's Here On Earth, and at 2122, New Beginning. Good signal, s7/s9. (Will-MD)

5/2, 0000-0009+, 6870am. Rock, blues & pop music; ID by female, lady woman @0007:40 w/gmail addy. At QRN level & occ’ly peaking over + pip QRM (Frodge-MI)

** KIPM

5/1, 0108-0012, 6933usb. Music then "Illuminati Prima Material, an ID, and the Pima drop address. (35443, Hunsicker, PA)

5/1, 0125, 6933usb. “High frequency radio church” program. Postal address for QSL in Georgia. Call in to the radio church with turned into a weird and hilarious prayer led by the radio preacher, praying to go to heaven on a woodchuck, speaking in tongues, getting the caller to repeat “I love you” many times. ID and postal address, electronic music into Alan Maxwell with a monologue allegedly about Joseph and Jesus, “You have been listening to Alan Maxwell on the High Frequency Radio Church,” ethereal music, shouting (maybe preaching) over music, ending sequence for KIPM – ID, music, “KIPM – Illuminati prima materia. 4/30, *2130:32-2234:50*, 6925usb. Test tone 2130:02-2130:16, On w/bird call IS & code RADIO NOVA; 2134+ Irish-sounding music. (My apology if it’s Welsh or Scottish...I know what a big deal that is. A “reliable source” tells me it’s Quebecois in FF.) Anmts mainly uncopiable due to QRN. Accented “Radio Nova” IDs @2153:56 & 2209:54. Close by W @2232:30 w/Tnx, e-mail, code ID, voice ID & SSTV (probably tres fuzzy in the QRN); rpts to RadioNoveUSA2020@gmail.com. 5/1, 0033-0058*, 6933usb. ID and some thoughts from Captain Rick. Music. Announcement that this is a radio test and "If you can hear me, put your finger in your mouth." (Hunsicker, PA)

5/1, 0046, 6933usb. Captain Rick piloting a program of Texas related music, country / rock, “Oh boy,” ID and signing off with a bracing sea shanty by a pirate quartet, ID then OM singing with looped “If you can’t hear me stick your finger in your eye.” Off 0058. Fair. (Taylor-WI)

5/2, 0205, 6925usb. Rock n’ roll, Jefferson Airplane, Led Zepplin, other era music, 0219 e mail and ID, then off. Poor – fair. (Taylor-WI)

4/27, 2142, 6925usb. 2 ballads, Yelling “yea,” instrumental ambient music, “ yelling “yea” at the end of the song, man and woman with unintelligible talk. Poor. (Taylor-WI)

5/2, 0001, 6935usb. Contemporary dance music, ID sequence including Twilight Zone theme (unintelligible ID), skit between synth voiced YL and a man into program of similar skits and dance music. No intelligible ID’s heard. Poor to fair at times. (Taylor-WI)

5/1, 0203, 6933usb. At 0203 pirate music, 0204 repeating 8-note plus drum interval? signal. That`s the *Eighth* pirate tonight, and at 0205 four of them are on at once; enough! 6933, 6952, 6960 and 6974.9. A final quick check of 4+ and 5+ MHz finds none in those areas, not even Guatemala. These say it`s Voice of Communism from the ``Soviet Union`` for May Day: [www.hfunderground.com] But I QRT before hearing any more of it. ** Voice of Pancho Villa

4/30, 2320, 6925usb. Fair/weak signal at 2320 when Voice of Pancho Villa came on with bizarre program. (Hassig-IL)

4/30, 2320, 6925usb. At *2320, Mystery Pirate Radio comes on late after Zekey finished. E mail address. Voice of Pancho Villa theme, S6-S7, signature wild laughter and exaggerated Mexi-accent (I hope the XEs are not offended?) Immediately starts invoking a ``Glenn Hauser`` character, 1-900-PAYGLENN. Audio is rather distorted. Glenn is a girl? 2327 1-800-PAYGLENN [Note: PHONY]. IDs in real Spanish between segments; at 2342 says 1998 follows, skit about Clinton and Lewinsky. 2349, year 2000: Tom Kneitel can`t be here, because ---. 2354, year 2001(?), this segment with QRM, co-channel talk about something else: another pirate or produxion mixture? UT May 1, continuing, 0000 the VPV from 2002y, CCI gone. Stuff I have heard before and reported anyway in too much detail. Now I am distracted by AAAWWW panned to one ear and MPR/VPV to the other. 4/30, 2343, 6925usb. Pre broadcast information indicated that this was a review of various Pancho Villa editions over many years. Various adventures of Pancho with assorted DX and political figures of the day including Gerry Dexter, Glenn Hauser, Bill Clinton, etc. Just barely audible and significant parts unintelligible. 5/1, 0100, 6930usb. At 0100, Mystery Pirate Radio is supposed to repeat the Voice of Pancho Villa show via a station in the West, while 6925-USB earlier was from the East. So now I bring up a northern Utah remote, but accidentally in LSB so hear only traces at first. 0106 in USB there it is underway, S9+10/15 referring to Oklahoma, sounds like Beevis & Butthead about visiting ``gh``, but then it`s a YL knocking on his door. Another episode I`ve heard before. 0109 Spanish intro as one for 1996y to follow. 0112 back to own R75 where it`s S9+10, (and no 6925). VPV still audible past 0131. 4/30, 0056, 6930usb. USB PIRATE (No. Am.) Wasteland Radio, 0056, 4/30/21. Hard rock, unknown digital signal (not sure if this was part of the program or QRM,) SSTV (drawing of 2 people, 1 with backpack with “Wasteland Radio”), hard rock, off 0105. (Taylor-WI)

5/1, 0105, 6960usb. Barrington Hills IL sdr, weak but clear signal with low noise, hear a Broadway tune playing, then song "cabaret", song "if I were a rich man". (Hassig-IL)

** WDOG

5/1, 0008, 6950am. Rock music, 0131 man talking mostly unintelligible but probably an ID, more lighter music, clear ID into more music by same artist. Poor – fair at times. (Taylor-WI)

5/1, 0041-0105*, 6950am. AM 1 May 2021 0041-0105* ID and music. BC ends at end of music. (45454, Hunsicker, PA)

** Wolverine Radio

5/2, 0012, 6950usb. Weak but clear signal locally, also tuned in on Dixon IL sdr with fair signal, heard swing tune, now playing "slow boat to China", seems to be program about fast and slow, nice variety of tunes with the word fast or slow in them, at 0059 echo ID then SSTV/FAX. 5/2, 0013, 6950usb. “Slow down,” “Slow boat to China,” “Fast women and sloe gin,” “You took my love too fast,” ID, “Slow horses and fast women,” into a program of “slow” and “fast” themed songs chronologically organized. “Echo” ID, SSTV (Tortoise and hare with “Wolverine Radio,”) off. ** Yeah Man Radio

5/1, 0035, 6925am. At *0035 another pirate carrier comes on same frequency still tuned via NA5B remote for Mystery until 0019*. 0037 starts rock music, but distorted; carrier is wobbling severely, unlistenable in SSB mode. SAM carrier offset jumps around plus 74/63/42 Hz within a few seconds. 0040 DJ about it being Friday night, ``Light My Fire``. 0045 ID sounds like ``Ambient? Radio, 6925`` 0054 acknowledging listeners in PA, KY, Indonesia. 0100 ``Million Dollar Weekend Show``, refers to listeners on HFU. ** YHWH

5/1, 0307, 7470am. Josiah barely detectable; presume in AM, but only hear in USB at this point. (Frodge-MI)

5/1, 1815, 11905am. Josiah monologue in progress at tune-in F/G here in the big sticker-patch (but sometimes cutting out). Ten Commandments of Yahweh and ID at 1825; Days of Hard Life by Lace 1838. Announcement about running low on fuel to run the generator but would return in 5 minutes. YEP ! After changing gas cylinders, he was back on the air and going on thru the hour to repeat of Days of Hard Life at 1928, then off. (Barton-AZ)

5/1, 1839, 11905am. At 1839, anti-Christ pirate, Station YHWH is JBA at W7RNA Phœnix remote, and at 1853 JBA carrier here, tnx to tip from Rick Barton in AZ who was hearing him better at 1815. YHWH has shown up before circa midday on various 25mb frequencies. Walt Salmaniw says he was off by 1930 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

4/30, 2238, 6925usb. 2238 with both Dixon IL and Barrington Hills IL sdr's, fair signal, heard old instrumental tune from around 1960 then nothing, at 2242 "the twist" Chubby Checker then talking by DJ which is difficult to understand, at 2246 variety of oldies from late 50's early 60's, at 2252 "duke of earl" by Gene Chandler from Sept 1962 (I was a junior in HS then) followed by "tossin' and turnin'" by Bobby Lewis from 1961 then Patsy Kline "I fall to pieces", at 2259 song "big John", at 2302 Ricky Nelson "hello Mary Lou", 2306utc "raindrops", at 2308 song "crying over you", 2310 Percy Faith instrumental "summer place" (I have that 45), at 2315 instrumental "walk don't run", at 2316 UTE QRM. 4/30, 2245, 6925usb. At 2245, somepirate is already on tho Mystery Pirate Radio has publicized another set of Voice of Pancho Villa shows to start at 2300. This one is S3-S5 talking about standing wave ratio, music. 2256 DJ likes Patsy Cline and plays her greatest hit; 2259 ``Big John``, 2303 pause, off? No, back with ``Hello, Emmy Lou``. 2305 ``You are listening to ---`` but I can`t copy the name. At 2314 I switch from own R75 to NA5B remote in MD, where this is S8-S9 with songs; 2317 ``Wheels``, Zeke ID. Says he and wife have both been shot and won`t wear masks going out to eat. Nothing digital ready to play? 2318 Zekey`s Attic [Zichi?] is ``relinquishing frequency`` to another pirate, steady noise but not SSTV, and off*.
