Whoa!!! Heard Timtron, WA1HLR, on 3885AM last night around 06:00UTC, workin' a station West of Seattle, WA. That's a good haul on 75M in any mode, let along AM, from ME to WA. I was hearing that dude at S20/9 with some kick-ass hardware on his end, a commercial Harris TX and a dipole at 160ft up! (No wonder I heard him that well.) Timtron, was bangin' into my QTH in WV at S40/9. Maybe, this weekeby ThaDood - Other logs
Heard WDOG later on 6930kHz USB from 00:10UTC - 00:22UTC with a bangin' S30/9 signal. Thomas Dolby, announcer with French accent, and Emerson, Lake, & Palmer.by ThaDood - Free Radio Logs
You must be right, since I woke-up to CB CH 38LSB jammin' with Europeans, then Western States, as well as B.C. Canada. Just the slightest solar fart usually would wipe that out.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Eh??? Got back from work and kicked the HF rig on to troll for pirates, only to hear what sounded like the 1970's - 1980's Russian Woodpecker on 6925kHz, +/-12kHz either side, 04:30UTC. Not that strong, peaking at an S5, but certainly obliterated anything that could have been there. That was gone 2hrs later. Tell me that this wasn't deliberate.by ThaDood - Other logs
NO!!!!!! That will wipe-out HF, again!by ThaDood - General radio discussion
I've never even heard of this zine, Huh... Back then, Ernie Wilson's EBN was what I subscribed too.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Word on 'da street is that FM on CB is being used in the Western State on CB CH29, 27.295Mhz. Anyone hearing that when the skip rolls?by ThaDood - General radio discussion
I just want these T-storms to hurry up and get outta' here. Testing out a repaired Windom and hearing like S+20/9 of lightning crashes just sucks. That, and I don't want lightning to QSL me, since ya know what happens when it really does. Now, if we can just clear all these storms out just in time to DX the Halloween pirates on MW and SW this weekend. BTW, might be a good time to cruise around anby ThaDood - General radio discussion
Don't trash those Reciva based radios yet. There are some smart folks trying to work around this. I have two Sangean WFR-20 radios here, and it would be nice not to have even more paper weights here. Albeit, they also make nice computer audio amps with their AUX inputs.by ThaDood - The Workshop
Thought twice that 11M was going to die-out, but 1st time, at sunset, S and Mid CA bang in there with a vengeance! Finally, died-out at 9PM EST, or 01:00UTC. What little activity I did hear on 10M was a very weak QSO on 28.400USB, then an Aussie accent on 28.450USB, commenting about State-side contacts. So, the Aussies may have indeed been in there last night, as well.by ThaDood - Other logs
After bring back from the dead, a 1978 RCA SSB Co-Pilot CB, with a new VCO modual, bought from the same UK dude selling FM CB boards, (See the earlier post on that.), I went to bed with it on the 10M Ringo on CH 38LSB. This morning, I woke-up to a flurry of SSB activity from AZ, NM, TX, Mexico, and CA. In the mid-afternoon, WA, OR, N. CA, BC, and Alberta, all banging-in there at +9lbs. Went to 10by ThaDood - Other logs
Wow!!!! That Hudson Valley TIS station on 1710kHz was coming in at S+10/9 at 07:00UTC! Strongest that I've heard it, yet. Are they still running 100W? UPDATE: My bad... Hudson Co. TIS station, as suggested corrections e-mailed to me. Well... My defense, I ain't never been thar'. (Ha-ha-ha...)by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
COOL!!!! Love it when propagation cooperates. Heard WBCQ's 7490kHz AM at S+25/9, and it sounded good here. I didn't know that the 3265kHz side was down, so I hope to grab time on that when that FREQ gets back up. Stay tuned!!!!!! HAPPY DX'ing!!!!!by ThaDood - Broadcast announcements
COOL!!! Russian metal band Master posted on their mail site about being on WBCQ, But, if your Russian really sucks, like mine, here's the English translation by that big WBCQ mic logo PIC: Radio review of the album "Master of Time Master", Yesterday 3:29 pm This Sunday, The Underground JAM program on American Independent Radio will feature a review of the "Master oby ThaDood - Broadcast announcements
Here's the SWL'ing post on that,by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Let's keep these CME's away from ruining propagation on WBCQ's 7490kHz AM on, (What would be Sunday Oct. 3'rd, evening 9PM EST.), world-time Monday Oct. 4th, 01:00 UTC. Heavy metal fans will love this one, as The Underground JAM finally comes around to review the new Master album, (Released February 2020. Yeah... I'm way late here.). Last year was the teaser track Peacemaker, but this time aroundby ThaDood - Broadcast announcements
Huh... Weird... I still remember Radio Metallica jackin' the then WBCQ FREQ of 7415kHz, on hours WBCQ wasn't using it. But, there was absolutely no question upon whom that was doing that. And, it worked for them then. Then again, in the late 1990's Radio Free Information tested 9335kHz, then WBCQ grabbed 9330kHz. Then, RFI tried 17.495MHz, and WBCQ then grabbed 17.490MHz. So, who's grabbing who'sby ThaDood - Free Radio Logs
Coming home around 05:30UTC, that 1710kHz Hudson Valley TIS, (a.k.a. The Pest!), was just booming over the truck stereo. There was some lightning crashes in there, but not outrageous. So, when I got home, I kicked on the HF rig and found 3799kHz and 3795kHz very much alive with Spanish EA1 stations and several UK stations. The 'Big-Guns' were in there at S9!. However, the weaker, 100W on-a-wire dby ThaDood - Other logs
Apparently, they have some newer, yet sketchy, info on the Titus II. At this point, tech has marched-on to where there are better alternatives. I say, stop teasing us!by ThaDood - The Workshop
Then, you've got this dude's page on his, Still, looks like one hell of an appealing receiver.by ThaDood - The Workshop
After a poor RX'ing of KCJJ in Iowa City, IA all summer, I heard them for a few minutes bangin' back in on the truck stereo around 04:35UTC. Interesting contrast of tunage, early Beyoncee Knowles to early 80's Sammy Hagar.by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Awh yeah??? Well, if y'all liked that, then here are these: And, if any station wants to air the following, please do: While we're at it, here's the whole page that is expanding: What's next? How about 1990's interviews from pirate ops? Thank you, and ENJOY!!!!by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Want to download that interview for yourself? Looks like the upload to Archive.org worked. Goto Scroll down to VBR MP3, then Right-Click for option to download. Enjoy!!!!!!by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Oh yeah... I certainly remember the morning of 9/11/2001, since I was on the road to my Grandpa's funeral in Buffalo, NY. Needless to say, 930WBEN was exciting to listen too right then, as my family and I did. However, I was sleep deprived from staying up all night, 9/10/2001, for big night on the then Art Bell's Coast To Coast AM, when his guest was Andrew Yoder, on the subject of Pirate Radio,by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Huh... Even with all those lightning crashes, even being heard up to 10MHz, last night at 06:30UTC, ops on 1880kHz LSB were back on rag chewin'. And, all were coming in from S5 to S9. I guess that's a sign of Fall. Saturday night, I also heard that Gateway News 160M AM at 1860kHz, WA0RCR, at S10/9 - S20/9 signal.by ThaDood - Other logs
Question... With all that mostly unused spectrum in the 11M International Broadcast band, from 25.670MHz - 26.100MHz, has anyone tried actual Part #15 tests and broadcasts there? About the only thing that I hear down there, anymore, are CB outbanders. I haven't heard those broadcast auxiliary FM stations there for a couple of years, at least. Yeah... Sucks about the Part #15 FS limit of 30uV, meaby ThaDood - The Workshop
Huh... Testing a repaired Uniden Pro510XL CB, so today I woke up to several stations shooting skip on AM CH's 28, 27, 11, 1, , Superbowl 6, and 38LSB. Couple from AR and AZ, but most were from S. CA and around San Diego. So, must be mild F2 coming back in there, but must also be the power hungry 'Big-Guns' that were heard. Some of them at 9lbs.by ThaDood - Other logs
Yep... Gracias Bram! Pretty solid S5 here at 04:00UTC. O.F.W....by ThaDood - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
Wanted to see if CFRX on 6070kHz was coming in around at 3AM, or 07:00UTC, and it didn't, but skipped over me. However, at 07:03UTC, was a weak station, jammin' modern folk MX, on 6080kHz. No ID heard. Any cues???by ThaDood - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
