Well, with CB now finally allowed for use on USA CB's, question stands, what channels to use FM on? My proposal would be the Gentleman's Agreement, like what was done with SSB, (a.k.a. Channels 36 - 40 for SSB, CH16 on the old 23 channel rigs.). My idea would be to reserve channels 30 - 35 for FM use. Think that it would fly? Of course, this could depend upon local regional options. Case in pointby ThaDood - General radio discussion
Tis that time again, already. Tropo and Aurora maybe the dominant propagation here.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Could be for some interesting monitoring. My QTH is expecting 2" - 4" of leftovers. Should be a drought killer, fo' sure.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Here's a dude in the UK that's doing add-on FM boards for CB, Now, when this will happen domestically is anyone's guess.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Surprised to hear over the Cuban 1620 this station, while on the road, with Styx - The Best Of Times, Julian Lennon - Time To Say Goodbye, Love Train - (I'm brain farting on the artist.), no announcements, no ID's. Audio quality seemed to be EQ'ed in the mid-range, but was very clear. (Could be a clue that it was done from an amateur transceiver.) Also noticed that the tracks were not that tightby ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Hey Bram!!! Ya might be right-on about WVXX1050, It's got some nice signal strength and audio quality to it. And, at night, it's pointed right at me. THANKS!!!!! BTW, when posting the same thing on The HFU, nothing, but yawns. (Uh-huh...)by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Heard this bangin' in on the drive to work, after 9PM EST an EDM Espanol station. Sounded really good, but didn't get an ID, or even a promo. And, that's with AM splatter from the flame throwers either side on 1040 and 1060. So, who 'dat? (Can ya ID that one Bram?) And, checkin' 1020KDKA, it was seriously getting bowled-over by a station jammin' folk tunage, and must have been +/- a few hundredby ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Could make for some interesting monitoring.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
I had WB8YST send me the follow: Could this effect 5G rolling out? Hmm...by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Well, this is rare today on AM, a 99W college station on 1280AM, Toronto, ON, Question is, can anyone hear that, over the semi-close Rochester's 5kW 1280WHTK? Would be a nice catch, indeed.by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Anyone heard about this station coming back to NYC on 1560kHz with a 5kW signal? I hope that they beam it out towards the ocean.by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
I had a local dude, whom is worked at our local EOC, who then pointed out that NOAA WX Radio Service was not included. Huh... Nothing from my phone, this time, for me.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
That what was suggested as well over at The HFU. Huh... That array is pointed away from me, its back-side, but that's got to be it.by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Several nights, while it's still dark, I've found a pretty strong music station jamming reggae, Hip-Hop, and EDM, but all of it, including announcements and jingles, are in Spanish. Well, since No hablo español, I have yet to ID this station. Anyone else hearing this on 1070kHz?by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Huh??? I heard that test over commercial radio EAS, but nothing came up on NOAA 162MHz Weather Radio. It was my understanding that any national tests were to also go over that. Just, an observation.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
This could be interesting. rumor has it that another attempt for an internet kill-switch might happen as well then. Could be interesting.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Apparently, done! Cobra asked for it, and got it. Others should follow. But, what I wanna' know is will someone come up with added FM boards to modify existing CB's, like folks did in the 80's and 90's with kits? Sounds like opportunity to me.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Um... Maybe not now. Ooooops!!!!by ThaDood - The Workshop
Paul of Radio Survivor covers this, even more so:by ThaDood - General radio discussion
I've already MOD'ed one portable to a BNC connector, for connection to EXT ANT's. It does overload on the Windom, but does pull-on those AM HAM's better on 3885kHz and 7290kHz. Next, I want to replace those tedious <> push buttons with Rotary Encoders from All Electronics. That should make adjusting the volume and tuning much better, and faster.by ThaDood - The Workshop
Chris Smolinski found this link on FM for CB's: As long as it's NBFM, it would be a win / win! Less interference of AM overmod and splatter. Should have been done years ago.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Heard this on Amateur Radio Newsline #2282. With Sporadic "E" still in play, this should make for an interesting catch!by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Looks like the Russian have taken thing up a notch in DSP / SDR based receivers. Damn!!!! I want one!by ThaDood - The Workshop
Heard again on drive home. I knew that this station had nice audio, but hearing Asia - Heat Of The Moment, and near full fidelity of that tune, like the high hats, and heard on a fairly narrow banded truck stereo, told me that the ENG of this station knew how to EQ this station well. Now, I want to hear this station on a wide-band receiver.by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs

Yeah!!! Seen sgreenstreet on The HFU post this fascinating, yet unknown, history. Certainly, worthy of a read here.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
A buzz over on The HFU as well.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Boomer linked me earlier to Radio World on this:by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Huh... 3rd July in a row that I've been able to DX this station in WV. Promos as Y96.7FM, (Going with it's translator, of course.). Playing classic hits like Foreigner, Yes, Mr-Mr, Cindy Lauper, etc. What's so weird is that I only seem to be able to hear this station in the month of July, and I have tried in other months. Huh... Propagational clock-work, I guess.by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Yeah... Not really radio related here, or could it be made to be? Gotta' thank Rob, W8XRW for bring this to my attention. Heś using his for Yaesu C4FM Fusion WIRES-X. However, I could see using this PC Stick as an ultimate portable PC SDR. This would easily replace the Acer Netbook, with Intel Atom, from 2009, that I use to program most of my two-way rigs. So, possibilities here could be endlesby ThaDood - The Workshop
