You mean not having that SDR crap, yeah? I didn't necessarily need it myself, worried that it would make my old radio collection obsolete, but I'm curious about tech, and have been bitten by the bug. Actually, if I can install it remote from my home, it's going to revitalize my listening.

If you mean AM stereo, well C-QUAM has been around since the early 1980s, so long that it's out of patent. Even the underlying tech is part of color TV, the subcarrier is quadrature. You don't need anything digital to receive it, a fully analog radio can pick it up, if it has the decoder chip.

I could see how SSTV can get in the way, stations have to pause for a few minutes of buzz saw noise to send one, but I guess they see it as a built-in QSL for the show.

I did like seeing KDOG's SSTV images posted at another forum.
