** Maryland

6/18, 1900, 90.3fm, Frederick, Maryland. Tuned into the end of a Chickenman episode, followed by the country goth classic "The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia" by Vicki Lawrence. This long running micropirate appears to be located somewhere in the south of the city, perhaps in the Ballenger Creek area. Depending on the topography, it has a maximum range of about ten miles to the south (audible at the high point in Urbana, several miles south of Frederick) and four or five miles north and east. Aside from the rarely heard Chickenman shows, it plays a big hits 1965-1990 format. Lo-fi sound, always in mono, with full quieting between tunes. Fair signal; in the commercial areas it is frequently bothered by all kinds of localized buzzes and noise. (Will-MD, GM Delco truckradio)
