The Free Radio Weekly (FRW) is an internet newsletter devoted to the hobby of listening to free radio "pirate" broadcasters in the shortwave radio bands. The FRW is produced by the free radio community and distributed to those who contribute.

The weekly deadline is Saturdays at 0000 UTC (Friday night in North America). Please send your logs to all the editors, as our editing schedule is subject to last minute changes. Thank you for your inpoots!

Back 2351. monologue, an explosion and off 2353. back again talking about "boom boom" w/ another OM, mellow guitar - I had an audio problem - rock, SSTV (didn't get it), guitar, SSTV (Lucky 13 on 4 leaf clover), waterfall image of the same. 0027 off. 5/28, 0257, 6950usb. On Barrington Hills IL sdr with fair S7 signal, strange music, at 0258 SSTV/FAX, nice selection of oldies from 1950's and 1960's including some doo-wop tunes, SSTV/FAX at 0322, heavy metal music, at 0331 SSTV/FAX, then apparently off air. (Hassig-IL)

Instrumental (funky), 2nd so, waterfall image, start of Fugue in D then messed up, repeated electric beat w/ drums, another waterfall (drawing of cartoon 50’s man with pipe), new mix, monologue on Martian reproductive cycle, parody of folk song, SSTV (color brain and face representation of earlier waterfall), another mix, CW - Outhouse R., more electronic music. 5/28, 2328, 9913usb. In routine bandscan run across pirate music at this unusual spot, jazzy/rock, S7/S9. No STANAG QRM de 9912 now; not out of 9940 WTWW which is still AWOL. 2332 fading down and up, 2333 SSTV? but not much variety in the beepery. 2337 music, live performance with applause, but no announcements. 2357 quick ID? sounds like ``You are listening to The Last Nowhere, TBA``; more SSTV. 2358.5 starts raunchy storyteller with wild audience roaring continuously; whether a tree is dead, does it matter? Describes his dick. Current references to Michael Jaxon being on trial, etc. May 29 UT: 0010 SSTV. 0011.5 resume bawdy stories on and on; 0041 finishes, who was it? SSTV, 0042 music overlaps, ruining image? 0042. music. 0049, ``This is CEO[?]. I`m gonna call it a night; this is sucked`` - or something like that. Later I check HFU and find lots of previous logs of Sycko Radio, UT May 22, 24, 27, but NOT tonight! Classic Sycko programming with distorted voice, chaotic and clashing music mixes bits of sinister movie music, introduction from “Twilight Zone.” Man with distorted monologue at one point about “algorithms are bad … for you brain … feed you what you want to hear … always stay inside your box … they don't want you to” ?, roaring sound, sinister music, "What you are hearing is real ... it is not prerecorded ... it will never be heard again ... one time shot”. Taps repeated 3 times w/ 2 min. between each, “Star Spangled Banner” by marching band, "Stars and Stripes Forever", Marine Corps hymn, "National Emblem", march (don't know it), "Bravura" "The Rifle Regiment" - US Army band, SSTV (American Flag as sunset backdrop for farm house and some pines), Colonel Bogey March - US Coast Guard Band, SSTV ( Uncle Sam w/ guy behind holding Uncle Sam around the neck pointing a gun at the audience saying, "We either get what we want or the country ' ?'"), "Battle hymn of the Republic" - US Army Band, march (don't know it), "Officer of the day march" - US Marine Band, Series of marches; other SSTV (US flag with "God Bless America"), marches, waterfall image (didn't have Easypal on), march, resend of Am. Flag sunset w/ farm house SSTV, taps, off 0212. Memorial Day program. Good. (Taylor – WI)

5/31, 0126-0209, unknown frequency. I walked away from the radio with MMSSTV running and the next morning I found four SSTV images, all in Scottie 1. They were recorded at 0126, 0134, 0153, and 0209 The first and fourth images were the same; a landscape with the clouds forming a stylized American flag. The second was a political statement with a man with a gun holding Uncle Sam hostage and the words "WE EITHER GET WHAT WE WANT OR THE COUNTRY BY ?????." The third image showed "God bless America" with an American flag. I thought that I would remember the frequency, but of course I did (and do) not. (Hunsicker, PA)

On Normal IL sdr with fair S9 to S9+10 signal, I selected CQUAM stereo on sdr, DJ talking about HF underground posts, he said broadcasting in mono so I switched to SAM, signal faded to poor S7 to S9, trying other sdr's but they are no better, also tried Cork Ireland and that shows only a trace of carrier. Station YHWH good into northern Utah SDR, tnx tip from Eric Fetters-Walp in WA on the WOR iog; Josiah Elias has been active almost every night lately, but I myself had not been checking. Usual rants anti-Christ, the ``god-man hybrid``, anti-Catholic = homosexuals and pedophiles; the one true god Yahweh will soon establish a worldwide theocracy: no, tnx! Carrier offset only -006 Hz: he`s frequencily very accurate. 0403 live timecheck for 9:04 pm Pacific. 0409 playing his ``Days of Hard Life`` themesong, about to close down?
