The Free Radio Weekly (FRW) is an internet newsletter devoted to the hobby of listening to free radio "pirate" broadcasters in the shortwave radio bands. The FRW is produced by the free radio community and distributed to those who contribute.

The weekly deadline is Saturdays at 0000 UTC (Friday night in North America). Please send your logs to all the editors, as our editing schedule is subject to last minute changes. Thank you for your inputs!

2/20, 0027, 6950am. On Barrington Hills IL sdr with poor S7 to S9 signal, heard blues tune followed by Captain Morgan Shortwave ID, more blues, at 0042 a bit of Twilight Zone theme then more blues, off at 0049, thanks for the tunes. (Hassig-IL)

2/20, 0030, 6950.3am. Blues segued, 0038 ID, came up nicely with more blues, "Twilight zone" theme, ID, blues and started to drop off, ID, off 0049. Started out poor, improved to fair then dropped off to poor by s/off. (Taylor – WI)

2/13, 2229, 6925usb. Remixed "Hooked on the feeling," ID, "Happy" "Saturday in the park", "Feeling stronger every day" into program of other era pop. Fair. (Taylor – WI)

2/20, 0002, 6932lsb. On Normal IL sdr, poor/weak S3 signal, male talking at length about something, occasional ID "(something) Radio", possibly another pirate doubling on freq, at 0013utc Rolling Stones "brown sugar" with S9 signal, at 0019utc Stones "gimme shelter". (Hassig-IL)

2/13, 0000, 6955usb. On Barrington Hills IL sdr with fair S7 to S9 signal, variety of nice pop tunes. (Hassig-IL)

2/13, 2233, 6935usb. Instrumental music, SSTV ("Outhouse Radio" figure in the middle (maybe a brain) writing under (unreadable) ), ID, more middle of the road instrumental music into program of lite jazz w/ ID's, off 0212. Poor - Fair. (Taylor – WI)

2/19, 2225, 6950usb. Listening since about 2223 to just barely audible music. Suddenly popped in at S5 with electronic music, Instrumental, quick ID (“Outhouse Radio”), another electronic instrumental, ID, elect. Inst., Echoy ID. Fair. (Taylor – WI)

2/19, 2355, 6955usb. On Normal IL sdr with S7 signal, heard dramatic echo ID then SSTV/FAX at 2356 then some type of foghorn sound then dead air. (Hassig-IL)

2/12, 2328, 6955usb. On Barrington Hills IL sdr with good S9 to S9+10 signal, nice variety of pop and rock tunes, signed off at 2339utc, thanks for the tunes. (Hassig-IL)

2/20, 2244, 6955usb. Music. It's not my style so I didn't recognize any of the songs about 20 minutes later the static subsided and reception was very clear with a very clear ID at 23:07. Another little audio bit about pirates and a station ID with DJ Dick Week at 23:10. YL saying "whatever". Signal was 59 with some static in Manitoba Canada. I recorded a minute of audio with a few station ids. (Friesen-Manitoba)

2/20, 2253-2259+, 6955usb and 6950usb. Voice ID at tune-in! into the inevitable pop song; 2256 DJ Dick Weed with ID & song recap. S8-9 on 6055 & S7 on // 6950! +++ 2336-2341+, 2/20; DJ Dick Weed mentioned Outhouse re;lying him; perhaps that was the // 6950. Bunker Hot Line for requests is 302-689-6307. 302 is Delaware (Frodge-MI)

2/25, 0042-0048, 4185usb. ID by Dick Weed, who then gave information about an album. A YL singing and some choral music. (35454, Hunsicker, PA)

2/19, 0050, 6920am. Program of mellow vocals with periodic ID’s. Poor. Pushka is usually only an inaudible het here, nice to hear them. (Taylor – WI)

2/23, 2302-2330+, 6925usb. Variety pop music, ZZZZZzzzzzzzzz. Gravel-voice IDs @2324:15 & 2329. At least he voice IDs! FF talk heard at times--pesky QRM? SIO=343 (Frodge-MI)

2/12, 2318, 6905usb. On Barrington Hills IL sdr with good S9 to S9+10 signal, pop music playing, at 2343utc SSTV/FAX followed by woman singing "white Christmas" in a reggae beat, at 2350 a polka tune. (Hassig-IL)
