COMMENTARIOS

Where has all the originality & imagination gone from pirate
radio?

If you hear an e-mail address, please report it.

William Hassig: Is it my imagination or has the ambient noise
level risen over the years? Here in my neighborhood we have
AT&T Uverse which squeezes tens of kilobits per second through
the same pair of wires used for the landline phone for several
hundred to a thousand feet from a neighborhood equipment box
fed from the CO by optical fibers. Most drops are overhead
from pole to house making excellent noise radiators. My neigh-
bor had Uverse for a while. She said the TV and internet were
great but she had trouble with her landline phone. After they
raised prices she went to another cable company (Comcast) and
switched to a cell phone. We have 3 cable companies here. I
use W.O.W. (wide open west) coaxial cable for internet and an
old fashioned TV antenna for OTA TV. My landline is wire all
the way to the CO with just voice and 50 volts DC. Full dis-
closure, I spent 36½ years working in phone company central
offices retiring from what is now AT&T Illinois in March 2008.

Larry Will: A more detailed running log for June 2021 DX is on
my personal site, at [zappahead.net]
