THE LOGS
=+=+=+=+= North American Stations/Relays =+=+=+=+=
77 LIMA JULIET SIERRA:
1/19, 2204-2246*, 6930/U. Via a recording, a program in progress
with Rap music. Often “just audible,” there was a mix of
music until an ID at 2219 with Op noting a “night of com-
promises. More music, including Physical Touching and a
call-out to HFU reporters. Notes that his “A” transmitter
died, and he is using the “B” transmitter for this broad-
cast. Said will be absent until A is fixed. (25342,
Hunsicker, PA)
1/23, 1632-1707*, 6930/U; A program in progress with light
classical music. The voice of 77 LJS started a reading at
1647 with a piece about “Silent Spring” issues. Then a
discussion about selecting & growing hedges. Op thanked
the HFU reporters and wished us a “wonderful afternoon &
happy DXing.” 3000 Hz was right. (35453, Hunsicker, PA)
199 RADIO CAROLINE:
1/21, 1301-1310*, 6930/U; Via a recording, a carrier appeared
at 1301, then faint music. OM with UK accent and “199
Radio Caroline,” then a promo that repeated “Hello, mi
amigos.” Here I Go Again and How Can I Be Sure. Gone
mid-song. A notch at 6928.048 helped a lot. (25242,
Hunsicker, PA)
B SSIDE RADIO:
1/26, 0323-0406*, 6935/AM; Via a recording, a program in pro-
gress with instrumental Jazz. Nice tunes; thanks for
the program. IDs @0332 and 0401. Just usable. (25342,
Hunsicker, PA)
BALL SMACKER RADIO:
1/20, 0157-0211, 6960/AM; Via a recording, a carrier appeared
at 0157 and the Ballsmacker opening sequence started at
0158. All Night Long and an ID. Walk Right Back then You
May Be Right, I May Be Crazy. Ugly, noisy night for lis-
tening (LSB was cleanest), I pulled the plug at 0211.
(35342, Hunsicker, PA)
1/20, 0208, 4032/U; Man with soulful singing into program of
contemporary music with occasional synth YL – only able
to be sure it was Ballsmacker from bowling pin strike
sound effects. Better at retune, 0325 with the end of a
song and ID and sfx into another song. Slowly the music
became more audible and full ID was heard more contempo-
rary rock/pop and 0340 synth YL with ID and eQSL offer,
Wildfire IS, off 0343. Poor. 6960 AM was not audible
at any point. (Taylor – Mauston, Wi.)
BOOM BOX RADIO:
1/21, 1317-1342, 6935/AM; Via a recording, a carrier appeared
at 1317 and the first audio at 1320 with an ID and email
address. MOR music. A promo for Boom Box Radio at 1323.
At 1331, “You are listening to a new edition of Breakfast
with Boom Box Radio.” The recording stopped at 1342.
6000 Hz fit. (25342, Hunsicker, PA)
BRAIN BROTHERS PIRATE RADIO NETWORK:
1/20, 0000-0035*, 6905/U; Via a recording, the program opened
with an ID and frequency announcement. Older pop and
rock, Miss Scarlet and Professor Plum explain the sta-
tion’s history. Listeners were asked to visit the web
site. 3500 Hz was “right,” but 3100 cut off some noise
and sounded better. (45453, Hunsicker, PA)
1/20, 0017, 6905/U; on Traverse City MI sdr with fair/good,
S9+10 to S9+20 signal, song "I got a brand new set of
roller skates" by Melanie Safka, station ID, at 0019
Sweet little sixteen by Chuck Berry, @0033 natl anthem
then JFK saying "ask not what your country can do for
you" etc, nice program, thanks. (Hassig-IL)
RADIOPHONIC COONVECTOR:
1/25-26, 2352; 6938/U; on Traverse City MI sdr with fair S9+10
signal, instrumental music, at 2354 jungle sounds with
ID that I couldn't make out, at 0008 ID then off air.
(Hassig-IL)
WREC:
1/20-21, 2343, 6955/U; on Brookfield WI sdr with weak/poor
S5-S7 signal, heavy metal rock under noise, at 2346½ ID
as Radio Free East Coast, at 2354 fast paced comedy ad,
more heavy metal (Hassig)
STERN RADIO:
1/24, 0024-0104, 6962/AM; mix of English and German languages
with several station IDs (“This is station Stern Radio”)
by a man announcer. Also heard a woman announcer with the
German station IDs. Good signal. Sounded like closedown
@0057 but music played after announcements. (D’Angelo-PA)
1/25, 0106-0131*, 6960.6/AM; ID per HFU; Via a recording, a
program in progress with weak audio. Stern’s “technical
difficulties” clip at 0117. Martial music at 0128. Never
heard a hint of an ID. 12,000 Hertz was a perfect fit.
(Hunsicker, PA)
THUNDER CHICKEN RADIO:
1/23, 0040-0047*, 6955/U; musical selection followed by SSTV
transmission. A man announcer followed with an announce-
ment at 0040 UTC ("One more for you before we call it a
night. Thanks for listening."). Another vocal selection.
Apparent station ID just before ending transmission how-
ever I missed it but HF Underground didn’t. Poor to fair
signal. (D’Angelo-PA)
TWO DOG RADIO:
1/20, 0154, 6950/U; Program of rock music with 2 dog announcing.
Unfortunately, a poor signal. (Taylor – Mauston, Wi.)
UNKNOWN NAME RADIO NETWORK:
1/22, 0217-0224*, 6919/U; Via a recording, a program in pro-
gress with odd noises and bubbles. Bad Reputation, Bette
Davis Eyes, and an owl, hooting. Gone, abruptly, @0224.
(35353, Hunsicker, PA)
WDOG:
1/25, 0106-0122*, 6925/U; Via a recording, a program in pro-
gress with Rock music and yelping dogs. Played a concert
recording and the encore closed the show (with barking
dogs). ID at 0112. 4000 Hertz sounded good. (35353,
Hunsicker, PA)
1/25, 0107-0122*, 6925/U;, fast paced instrumental music fol-
lowed by a man announcer with station ID simply as WDOG
followed by rick vocals. More talk at 0116 followed by
music but seemed to go off mid-song. Fair to good signal.
(D’Angelo-PA)
WOLVERINE RADIO:
1/21, 0057, 6950 then 4015/U; on Brookfield WI sdr with good
S9+20 signal s-on with "testing 1 2 3 can anybody hear
me" then DJ said moving to 4015 usb, good S9+10 signal
on 4015, at 0105 switched to Traverse City MI sdr with
better S9+20 signal, wide variety of songs with the word
"water" in them, at 0200 echo ID then SSTV/FAX, nice
program, thanks. (Hassig-IL)
1/21, 0146, 4015/U; End of a song, ID, 3 more songs, “echo” ID,
SSTV, 0203 off. Poor. Inaudible on // 6950 USB.
(Taylor, Wi.)
YHWH:
1/12, 0310, 7475/AM In progress at tune-in. Usual lecture by
Josiah, but hammered by lightning static crashes here.
Fully lighting green tuning eye but weak modulation. Deep
fade at 0335 and JBA by then. The signature song Days of
Hard Life rising abv the static level at 0343. Into closing
Ann at 0350, but barely audible. At 0355, we switched on
the BFO but no carrier present, so he must have closed
during that 5 minute period. -- Barton-AZ
1/16, 0250. 7475/AM. Josiah suddenly just cut-in at 0250 w/ decent
signal, but low modulation. Railing against debauchery and
hedonism. Still hanging in at 0350, debunking holidays.
Audio went to "JBA" status just bf 0400. Closing Ann & off
at 0408. Logged on Drake SW8, long wire. -- Barton-AZ
1/22, 0125, 7475/AM. We find an open carrier, then the op,
Josiah, cuts in at 0127 with his sermon of the night. Days
of Hard Life, the op's signature song, was played at 0150.
Final Ann & closing suddenly at 0201 -- Barton-AZ
1/24, 0412, 7475, JBA carrier, presumably anti-Christ pirate
Station YHWH; Rick Barton, AZ, notifies earlier when it`s
on but usually I check too late, so still on now? Yes,
until 0421:20* says Walt Salmaniw, BC. Is anything else
ever on 7475? Yes, per EiBi but nothing in our nights
after ChiCom jamming until 2400. HFCC shows nothing
between 1900 and 1730, likewise Aoki and not even YHWH
(Glenn Hauser, OK)
UNIDs:
1/19, 0158-0242*, 6930/AM; Via a recording, a carrier appeared
at 0159 with faint, unusable, musical audio. The audio
never rose above “faint audio.” (unusable, Hunsicker, PA)
1/19 & 20, 2355-0038*, 6935/AM; Via a recording, a carrier
appeared at 2335 with no audio heard, then audio at 2359
with a female vocal. About 16 dB above the noise, which
is not enough signal in AM. (15341, Hunsicker, PA)
1/20, 0011-0030*, 6925/U; Via a recording, the program opened
with music and an OM talking. Yipping and barking dogs
under the music. The local noise was fierce. The Op
noted that there was “lots of ganga in the air...” It
seemed to end at 0030. 2800 Hz was good. (35352,
Hunsicker, PA)
1/20, 0014, 6925/U; on Traverse City MI sdr with fair/good
S9+10 to S9+20 signal, heavy metal music, heard dog
barking, is this WDOG? (Hassig-IL)
1/23, 0227-0248*, 6930/U; Via a recording, a program in pro-
gress with faint music and a quacking duck. I Wanna
Rock, Riders on the Storm, and Play That Funky Music
Brown Guy. Often unusable due to a weak signal and
local noise. Closed with the National Anthem. (25351,
Hunsicker, PA)
1/23, 1621, 11514.9, S3/S4 JBA maybe music from pirate Hikari
FM. I wonder if he has any listeners or reports from
Japan (Glenn Hauser, OK)
