SSTV at 0016 (Scottie 2), 0102 (Scottie 2), 0107 (Scottie 1), and 0110 (Scottie 2). ID by voice at 0101 and SSTV image. Often “unusable” due to the noise. (25242, Hunsicker, PA)

FUBAR

Until 0101, the frequency wandered around. Going Up the Country, Dizzy, She Could Make Me Happy, I Think I Love You, Inna Godda Devita, and other songs. Meow Mix Commercial. 3600 Hz seemed to fit the envelope. (Hunsicker, PA)

B Side Radio (?)

6935 am, 12-31-23, 0100 utc on Brookfield WI sdr with weak noisy S7-S9 signal, jazz music with applause then comedy 0031 back to music, with British accents, at 0038 more speaking then more jazz, at 0211 woman singing slow song with jazz music, off air at 0232 utc, thanks for the tunes, tough copy, pirates should use ssb unless they have about 1,000 watts. (Hassig-IL)

WTF Radio Worldwide

6925 usb, 12-31-23/1-1-24, 2326 utc on Brookfield WI sdr with fair S7-S9 signal, playing a professionally produced anthology program about the Beatles, (I was a senior in HS in Jan/Feb 1964 when they hit the usa), at 2351 utc WTF jingle ID, more Beatles anthology with British announcer, many songs from their early years, off at 0016, thanks for the show. (Hassig-IL)

WTF Radio Worldwide, 12/31 & 1/1, 2308-0016*, 6925usb. Via a recording and accompanied by a band of noise centered at 6925.5 or so. Opened with vibraphone and then Andrew from Polygram talking about the Beatles records from 1963. Andrew played Beatles songs, talked about the music, the reception that it received, and problems at Capital Records. Really, 3000 Hz bandwidth, but 2900 eliminated some noise. (35242, Hunsicker, PA)

Zeeky Radio

6961 usb, 12-31-23, 2329 utc on Brookfield WI sdr with fair S9-S9+10 signal, hard rock music, suddenly off at 2343 in mid song, back on at 2345, at 0021 heavy metal tune "cat scratch fever" then DJ banter then song "barracuda" and more DJ banter, (Hassig-IL)

Wolverine Radio

4015 usb, 1-1-24, 0108 utc on Brookfield WI sdr with good S9-S9+10 signal, old jazz, swing and blues tunes, at 0118 old timey C&W music, at 0041 "the thrill is gone" by B B King, variety of tunes with the word "gone" in them, nice program, thanks, at 0202 echo ID then SSTV/FAX. (Hassig-IL)

WDDR

4015 usb, 1-1-24, at 0204 UTC on Brookfield WI sdr with fair S9 signal, came on immediately after Wolverine, read names from HFU including mine, pop and easy listening music. (Hassig-IL)

Radio Free Whatever

6950 usb, 1-1-24, tuned in at 2156 on Traverse City MI sdr with fair S9-S9+10 signal, pop/rock music, at 2159 DJ=Dick Weed announced songs played then read names from HFU posts including mine, off at 2231, nice music, thanks. (Hassig-IL)

Radio Free Whatever, 1/1, 1528-2145, 6950usb. A program in progress with Indy Rock from Dick Weed. A marathon that went on most of the day. 3000 Hertz sounded best. (35342, Hunsicker, PA)

Shroomer Radio

12/31 & 1/1, 2257-2321 and 0051-0129*, 6961usb. Via a recording, another production of Zeeky. Opened with a synthesized male voice encouraging us to listen to Acid Rock instead of Rock. Purple People Eater, It’s My Party, I Am Woman, and Jessie. Shroomer ID at 2315. 4000 Hz was good. Zeeky boasted of being heard in most parts of the US. He also called for more goat cheese in 2024. Waterfall images wished a “Happy No (sic) Year,” provided IDs, and showed a dog-headed mushroom cloud. Because conditions deteriorated, and the synch would not hold, a CQUAM image at the end did not materialize. 4000 Hertz was a good fit. (45555, Hunsicker, PA)

Shrooster Radio

12/31, 2257-2321, 69618sb. Did other things, starting at 2321. (45454, Hunsicker, PA)

WHZ

12/30, 2252-2255*, 6925usb. Via a recording, a program in progress with an ID (Whiz on your radio), repeated several times. Then the Beatles, an ID, and gone. 3000 Hertz was okay. 25 dB over the noise. (Hunsicker, PA)

WMPQ

12/31, 0302-0400*, 6950usb. Via a recording, a program in progress with faint music, then an SSTV image in Scottie 2. Other images at 0314, 0321, and 0356, all in Scottie 2, provided IDs. Mainstream older rock—all music that I like so thank-you to WMPQ! A noisy night, the content made it enjoyable. 2800 Hz fit best. (25342, Hunsicker, PA)

Yeah Man Radio

12/31, 2211-2257*, 6925usb. Via a recording, the broadcast started with Born to be Wild and the promo for the Million Dollar Weekend. Nice selection of old Rock—thanks! Closed with Suzy Q. Bandwidth was 3000, but 2900-sounded better because the narrower slot lopped off some noise. (35453, Hunsicker, PA)

Hikari FM

11514.9, Dec 30 at 1620, algo JBA direct, as we now know is pirate Hikari FM from Arizona or Sonora. Not bad, of course, if only 10 watts. He may be running this long hours, all day? StillJBA carrier at 0021 Dec 31 (Glenn Hauser, OK)

11514.9, Jan 1 at 2326, JBA carrier, no doubt the signature of Hikari FM, pirate in Arizona or Sonora; he really needs more power than a dekawatt (Glenn Hauser, OK)

11514.903, Jan 2 at 1703, Hikari FM, pirate in AZ or Sonora, S7/S9 with vocal music, Japanese? into KFS SE antenna. Some talk by hi-pitched YL? voice. 1829 brief intro in English of a song. Recheck at 2305 still a JBA carrier direct on 11514.9. Seems to be on air long hours, day and night? (Glenn Hauser, OK)

11514.9, Jan 5 at 1631, still a JBA signal here, no doubt pirate Hikari FM (Glenn Hauser, OK)

UNIDS

(unid), 6960 LSB, 1-1-24, 0006 utc on Brookfield WI sr with fair S7-S9 signal, religious music with child announcer. (Hassig-IL)

(unid), 4185 usb, 1-1-24, 0228 utc on Brookfield WI sdr with fair S7-S9 signal, end of old radio program then Johnson's wax program with Fibber McGee and Molly. (Hassig-IL)

Unidentified, 12/30, 0308-0310*, 6955usb. Via a recording, a synthetic-voiced singer accompanied by a guitar with Rock. BC ended mid-song. (25353, Hunsicker, PA)

Unidentified, 12/30, 0340-0408*, 6950usb. Via a recording, a very nice program of instrumental Blues. A data transmission intruded. The broadcast ended mid-song. 2800 Hz was best. (35353, Hunsicker, PA)

Unidentified, 12/30, 0408-0430*, 6949.74am. Via a recording, the carrier appeared with no audio. A male singer was heard at 0412, distorted and weak. Maybe an ID by a YL at 0424. Jimmy Buffet on tap at 0414. Data bursts, in groups of three, four, and five elements, were a bother. During the latter part of the program, the signal strength dropped, and it was unusable. (25342, Hunsicker, PA)

Unidentified, 12/31, 2043-2113*, 6950am. Via a recording, a 5 dB carrier spike appeared and didn’t get much stronger. Maybe some Warren Zevon; definitely a long set of Jimmy Buffett. Male operator said a few words at 2112 and the carrier was gone a minute later. (Hunsicker, PA)
