North American shortwave stations

77 Lima Juliet Sierra

77 Lima Juliet Sierra, 10/06, 1902-1938*, 6930usb. Program in progress with the Bules, then rock, then pop. IDed at 1937 and thanked us for listening to more library music. A truly awful male singer sang one ballad. 3400 Hz was good. (35453, Hunsicker, PA)

Ballsmacker Radio

Ballsmacker Radio, 10/04, 0055-0217*, 6960am. Via a recording WDOG flowed into this transmission. Opening theme music, then Michael Jackson at 0100. An annoying band of noise a few KHz below 6960. USB didn’t help, so stayed with AM. The night’s theme seemed to be “dirty.” I enjoyed the music—thanks! After 0134, both the audio and the carrier faded to “unusable,” where it stayed until the carrier was gone. 9000 Hz bandwidth at the best. (35343, Hunsicker, PA)

Crapola Pirate Radio

Crapola Pirate Radio, 10/08, 0100-0146*, 6905usb. Via a recording, opened with beeps and an ID and slogan, then Soul Man. A very nice selection of old Rock music interspersed with advertisements for the Medicare Magic Hotline and similar inducements. Professor Plum did Rap. Advertisement for the Gutterator. 3000 Hz covered it. (45554, Hunsicker, PA)

Doom Scroll

Doom Scroll, 10/09, 2044-2118*, 6950usb. Via a recording, the broadcast started with ethereal music planted right on a band of noise. There were a number of SSTV transmissions, in Scottie 2 at first, then Scottie DX. Generally, the SSTV transmissions were over the music. A 2059 SSTV was an ID. Just, just, usable. (25252, Hunsicker, PA)

Orbital Mind Control satellite, 11/04, 2313, 6935am. On Brookfield WI sdr with weak S7 to S9 signal, hear muffled rock music. (Hassig-IL)

Orbital Mind Control, 11/04, 0035, 6935usb. Tuned in to ID, musical bridge, Emergency Broadcast system alert, talk (mostly vague and couldn’t tell topic), indistinct music into unclear talk and music. 0047 another barely intelligible ID, CW over talk. Poor. (Taylor, WI)

Psychedelic Cafe

Psychedelic Café, 11/05, 2212, 6953usb. Mellow rock, "Oh yeah. Psychedelic Café." into contemp. Dance music, 2229 cover of 'I can't get no satisfaction', ID by synth YL, rock, song cut for introduction by a different announcer into song, cut 2239 into contemporary dance music, (maybe ID over music?), program continues like this with occasional pauses. Poor – fair. (Taylor, WI)

Psychedelic Cafe Incantation, 11/05, 2221, 6953usb. On Barrington Hills IL sdr with poor/weak S5 to S7 signal, hard rock music equal to noise level, at 2225 switched to Traverse City MI with better S7 to S9 signal, electronic dance music, thanks for the tunes. (Hassig-IL)

Unidentified

Unidentified, 11/04, 0237, 7320am. 2 men talking – apparently relay of a talk show. "This isn't just any conspiracy theory. This is a conspiracy theory which is confirmable and verifiable." Into more ungrounded conspiracy theory talk. Suddenly off at 0239. Fair. (Taylor, WI)
