The Free Radio Weekly (FRW) is an internet newsletter devoted to the hobby of listening to free radio "pirate" broadcasters in the shortwave radio bands. The FRW is produced by the free radio community and distributed to those who contribute.

The weekly deadline is Saturdays at 0000 UTC (Friday night in North America). Please send your logs to all the editors, as our editing schedule is subject to last minute changes. Thank you for your inpoots!

10/26, 2207-2320*, 6935am. Via a recording. Dr. Benway introduces Alan Maxwell’s show, “The Flying Dutchman.” Another KIPM adventure. Benway advises that it is one of Maxwell’s darkest shows, only intended to be played around Halloween. 10,000 Hertz fit nicely. (45454, Hunsicker, PA)

On Barrington Hills IL sdr with weak S5 to S7 signal, woman singing classical music, male DJ speaking about tune he just played then more classical music sung by woman, at 2236 switched to Brookfield WI sdr with better S9+10 signal, more classical music, off at 2302, thanks for the nice music. The victim is also USB only and not // 1390 stupid sportstalk. It`s a political speech with applause. Local CBer pirate relay tying up a busy channel at least locally, atop hets from skippers on off-frequencies. Has relayed various other local FMs before. On Brookfield WI sdr with good S9+20 signal, s-on with "testing 1 2 3 can anybody hear me" then woman singing blues tune "running around in circles" then man singing, at 0007 tuned in locally with fair S9+20 signal over S9 neighborhood noise, at 0008 "I walk the line" by Johnny Cash, wide variety of tunes from different eras, at 0052 deliberate QRM DE some @$$hole, at 0101 SSTV/FAX then off. 10/22, 0023, 6965usb. Monitoring the Saturday-evening surfeit on the pirate-band, UT Sunday October 22: 6965-USB, Oct 22 at 0023, music at S9+25, just in time for an ID, ``Wolverine Radio``.
