== North American shortwave ==

** Ball Smacker Radio

9/2, 0056-0235*, 6960am. Via a recording. The carrier appeared at 0056 and the opening sequence started at 0058. Old rock and pop. Fading after 0135 to 25442. 8000 Hz sounded good. (35443, Hunsicker, PA)

9/2, 0118, 6960 am. On Barrington Hills IL sdr with fair-poor S7 to S9 signal, soft pop tunes. (Hassig-IL)

** Crapola Shortwave Pirate Radio

9/2, 0000-0039*, 6905usb. Via a recording. Bells and tones to open, then tuning noises and an ID at 0001. Jail House Rock, Johnny Be Good, Stagger Lee. The Professor and Miss Scarlet chatted. 3200 Hz seemed best. (35453, Hunsicker, PA)

9/2, 0007, 6905usb. On Barrington Hills IL sdr with good S9 to S9+10 signal, song "jailhouse rock" by Elvis, male and female DJs saying they had to move due to disagreement with landlord etc, song "dream lover" from 1959 by Bobby Darin, at 0012 song "Johnny be good" by Chuck Berry from 1958, The Platters "great pretender" from 1955, excellent program of oldies from the 1950's and 60's, thanks for the tunes, at 0030 said "you are listening to Crapola pirate radio, all free, all the time" first by female then by male, thanks for the tunes. (Hassig-IL)

9/2, 0032-0039*, 6905usb. Patsy Kline with “Crazy” followed by “Stagger Lee”. At 0035 a woman announcer gave station ID before the man announcer started talking about HF Underground message board. Mentioned he would be returning in the fall. Closed with National Anthem and JFK quote. Good signal. Verified overnight with a date/frequency “card”! (D’Angelo-PA)

** Ion Radio

9/3, 2126, 6925am. On Ashley Falls MA sdr with weak S7 signal, hear audio fading in and out, new wave rock from 1980's, both Barrington Hills IL and Traverse City MI sdr's barely see carrier on waterfalls, at 2139 woman said "India Oscar November", off at 2201 utc. (Hassig-IL)

** Mix Radio International

9/2, 0028-0201*, 6865usb. Via a recording. 14,000 Hz bandwidth. 40 dB above the noise. Music. (55444, Hunsicker, PA)

9/2, 0037, 6865 usb. On Brookfield WI sdr with good S9+10 to S9+20 signal, very wide signal with vestigial lower sideband, various pop tunes like what I hear on muzak at the mall. (Hassig-IL)

9/4, 0117-0158*, 6881am. MRI played with waterfall images. The following image fit in a 3000 Hz bandwidth. Groups of one, two, three, and many (more than 10?) were broadcast. There were short and long (0123-0147) quiet periods. Good quality. (Hunsicker, PA)

9/4, 0206-0222, 6856usb. More MRI waterfall images, this time at 14,000 Hz bandwidth. There were two images, one like the one sent at 0117 on 0904, but a bit more elaborate, and another which filled most of the 14,000 Hz. Long strings of images were sent. (Hunsicker, PA)

** One Dog Radio

9/4, 0235-0412*, 6950usb. BC started with Blues on an ugly night for radio listening (appropriately). Sent an SSTV ID in Scottie 1, but also sent ID SSTVs for a half-dozen other stations. OM IDed as One Dog at 0245, 0308, and 407. 3000 Hz bandwidth sounded best. Often unusable, listening was fatiguing. (35252, Hunsicker, PA)

** Outhouse Radio

9/2, 0013-0130*, 6950usb. Via a recording. Weak signal, 8 dB above the noise, on a noisy night. The many SSTV images were of better quality than most of the audio. Ad for Mental Health Hotline. SSTV QSL. (25351, Hunsicker, PA)

9/2, 0225-0341*, 6925usb. Via a recording. Opened with funky music. Handful of SSTV images in Scottie 2. Also, two waterfall images. Played I’m a Wanker. Rock music. 3000 Hz was okay. (35343, Hunsicker, PA)

9/2, 2302, 6955usb. On Brookfield WI sdr with fair S7 signal, rock music playing, at 2303 the late Jimmy Buffet "Margaritaville", at 2309 Dire Straits "industrial disease" from 1982. (Hassig-IL)

** Thunder Chicken Radio

9/2, 2306, 6860usb. On Brookfield WI sdr with fair S7 signal, the late Jimmy Buffet "overkill", more Buffet tunes. (Hassig-IL)

** Unid

9/2, 0019-0035, 6955usb. Played Bob Dylan’s “Positively 4th Street” before man announcer talking about getting online reports and wishing everyone a good long weekend. Played Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds”. (D’Angelo-PA)

9/2, 0042-0138, 6865usb. Mainly dance music and vocals most I’m not familiar with but noted Careless Whisper by George Michael at 0047. Very good signal but no announcements noted. (D’Angelo-PA) [See Mix Radio International]

9/2, 0548, 7300.482V. Mystery station is on again tonight, JBA talk direct at S6 vs S9 storm noise level peaks. Previous better logs were of American-accented gospel huxter, presumed the same now. From 0601 to 0615 I check several remotes hoping for better reception. NO signal at these: UTwente, Missouri, Maryland. Almost inaudible but able to synch-lock onto carrier, skewed by various off-calibrations and SDR instability in addition to station`s
own variations upward: Utah: +520/532 Hz; Georgia: 537/583 Hz; WWV 10 MHz: +0.1-0.6 Hz; KFS California omni: +553/557 Hz; WWV 10 MHz: -0.8 Hz; Bonaire: +569/575. WWV 10 MHz: +3/4 Hz. At 0622 I ask others to try to hear and ID it, in the WOR iog, HCDX, and even RealDX which normally deals only with after-the-fact analysis
of recordings. NO replies found by 10 hours later! At 0627 back to my own R75, which is getting it better than any of
those remotes! But still JBA, now 7300.62 apx. At 0653 on 7300.70 apx. Next check at wakeup 0942, unheard (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

9/2, 1646, 6930usb. A political speech, JFK? "failures of the communist system..." Off at 1648. 21 dBu on the PL-990, very good. (Will-MD)

9/4, 0143-0158*, 6925usb. Via a recording. BC started with Rock/Pop music, accompanied by noise. Promos and IDs for WMEX, but I never heard what I thought was an ID. 3600 Hz fit best after I notched a spike on 6928.054. (35453, Hunsicker, PA)

9/4, 0224-0238*, 6955usb. Via a recording. BC started with music which continued weakening, until the BC stopped mid-song. (25342, Hunsicker, PA)

** WENO

9/3, 0042-0105*, 6950usb. Weird instrumental music and chanting noted with man announcer with station ID at 0055 (W-E-N-O Shortwave”) followed by more weird instrumental music and other sound effects. Carrier cut 0105 but apparently came right back on. Fair to good signal. (D’Angelo-PA)

** WORK Radio

9/4, 0111-0127*, 6950am. Via a recording. Carrier appeared at 011 and then the rhythmic sound of a machine, followed by some Jethro Tull. YL and OM talk of bad interview experiences, plus top 10 list of where you don’t was to go on Labor Day. 7000 Hz was best. OM wished listeners a happy Labor Day 2023. (45443, Hunsicker, PA)

** Yeah Man Radio

9/2, 0109-0149*, 6925usb. Via a recording. BC started with Born to Be Wild, then Light My Fire, Mustang Sally, and Green-Eyed Lady. Closed with Susy Q. (44454, Hunsicker, PA)

** Zeeky Radio

9/1, 2341-0220*, 6955usb. Via a recording. Labor Day program. Opened with Stayin’ Alive Talked of restoring a 1947 Magnavox radio. Also, noted listening to CFZM. A somewhat mellow Zeeky, a Zeeky who did not react to the regular kibitzer. Closed with Watchtower and Riders on the Storm. (45554, Hunsicker, PA)

9/2, 0017, 6955usb. On Brookfield WI sdr with fair S9 signal, Bob Dylan "positively 4th street", came back at 0120 utc and still on with rock tunes. (Hassig-IL)

== Central American shortwave ==

** Hikari FM (Mexico)

9/2, 0630, 6199.999. S6/S7 of music from presumed pirate Hikari FM, very accurate frequency, I measure here or .998 but within margin of error from 6200.000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

== Medium wave ==

** KRAP/Fred Flintstone

9/4, 0133, 1730. DJ refers to his pennywhistle signal being heard in Maryland, rock music but off at 0138*. Monitoring via SE Michigan SDR better than a SW Ontario one, tnx to this tip on the WOR iog: ``[WOR] Fred Flintstone Pirate 1730 khz @ 2120 ET 9/3/23 --- The KRAP AM Stereo "Fred Flintstone" pirate is active on 1730 khz at 2121 ET with an ID and out of a Chicago song and other 1970s pop music. Beautiful audio and S9+ signal here in SW Ontario Canada. Sean Welsh, Dufferin County, ON CA, Icom IC-8600, W6LVP Loop.`` Several other reports here, agreeing it went off at 0138* [www.hfunderground.com] Never came back by 0148 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
