4186 USB Puilo Rock Radio, 2202, 1.19.23. Music with OM announcer - all barely audible and without intelligibility. At 2225 music somewhat more audible with OM (? ID - unintelligible), 2244 "Heard it on the grapevine", "Suzi Q" - CCR, more unfamiliar rock, "In-a-gadda-da-vida". All songs IDed from familiarity not clear reception with very poor signal. 4188 USB Mushroom Head Radio, 0048, 1.22.23. Atmospheric music, 0056 several Easypal ham DRM sends (not ready to decode here), back to atmospheric music, Easypal Sends (“MUSH/ ROOM / HEAD / RADIO” x2; then scrambled brain scan with "Good - / evening / heads"), pause, start of more atmospheric music, pause, start again, Easypal image which didn't decode here, into hard rock. 6925 USB WAVE, 0141, 1.19.23. "Sirens" - Dizzee Rascal, 0147 ID, more contemporary Dance music, 0152 ID over music, "Show me love" - Phoebeus, OM w/ ID, clip about Human rights, off 0204. Fair.

WAVE, 0144, 1.20.23. Rap, contemporary dance music, which initially was just at static floor. Came up to adequate at 0152. 0154 ID over music by YL synth voice, into program of contemporary dance music with periodic IDs. Poor – fair overall.

WAVE, 0023, 1.22.23. Mixes of David Bowie songs including “Battle for Britain”, “I’m Deranged” and “I’m afraid of Americans V2” with periodic ID’s including “W A V E Radio. Whiskey, Alpha, Victor, Edward. Radio.” & a whispered “It’ the WAVE.” Fair. (Taylor – WI)

6935 AM B Side Radio, 0125, 1.22.22. Barely audible music and some talk by the op. Signal came up about 0148 enough to tell the music was mainstream jazz, then an ID and some talk about the music by the op., then signal descended back to barely audible. Wish signal had been better; I liked the music I heard clearly. Poor. (Taylor – WI)

B Side Radio, 6935 am, 1-22-23, 0208 utc on Brookfield WI sdr with weak S7 to S9 signal, hear jazz tunes, tried various other sdr's but this one is best (least bad), at 0228 tried Huson Montana sdr with fair S9+10 to S9+20 signal and some AC power line buzz, good jazz music, at 0232 merry melodies theme then Porky Pig saying "that's all folks" then off after 30 sec. 6955 USB Radio Free Whatever, 2303, 1.19.23. "Heavy is the Ocean" - Bush, "Can't deny it" - Honeycub, ID, Indie rock, prepared ID, rock, a rap extolling shortwave pirates by DJ Dickweed, DJDW talking about his rap song, and next song w/ ID, "Roosevelt" – Maypine. Good. (Taylor – WI)

Radio Free Whatever, 6955 usb, 1-22-23, 2202 utc on Barrington Hills IL sdr with fair S7 signal, end of slow pop tune, DJ = Dick Weed saying what songs he played per requests, at 2225 switched to Traverse City MI sdr with better signal, using IQ setting with wider fidelity, at 2315 signal up to S9+20, nice variety of music, thanks. Radio Free Whatever 6955USB 22 January 2023 2129-2228 3400 Hz seemed best. Announced as Indy Rock and Indy Pop. Mixing board gave DW a hard time. (Hunsicker, PA)

Ballsmacker Radio, 01.21.22. “Wildfire” IS, 0200 bowling pin strike, ID, “4030 from somewhere in the Northeast", bowling pin strike, "Everybody dance" - Chic, "Do you want to dance?" - Ramones, ID into a program of “dance themed music including Elton John, Archie Bell and the Drells, Bee Gees, Lionel Richie and many others. Fair although noisy at times. // 4030 AM. Initially an inaudible het. Checked back at 0311 and found a good signal. (Taylor – WI)

ZEEKY

6966 usb, 1-22-23, 2232 UTC on Traverse City MI sdr with fair S9+ signal, playing old Archie’s tune "sugar sugar" then played it again, Zeeky came on at 2240 saying old musicians are dropping dead. (Hassig-IL)

6935 am, 1-22-23, 2218 UTC on Traverse City MI sdr with poor S9 to S9+10 signal, music by the band "Chicago", off at 2230 as seen on waterfall while listening to RFW. (Hassig-IL)

6850 then 6880 usb, 1-21-23, 2250 utc on Barrington Hills IL sdr with fair but weak S7 to S9 signal, wideband signal, using IQ option on sdr, hear what sounds like Broadway show tunes, at 2300 clobbered by very wideband noise centered on 6840 kHz, at 2307 moved up to 6880 usb to escape the big wide noise. Mix Radio International, 6850 then 6880 usb, 1-21-23, 2250 utc on Barrington Hills IL sdr with fair but weak S7 to S9 signal, wideband signal, using IQ option on sdr, hear what sounds like Broadway show tunes, at 2300 clobbered by very wideband noise centered on 6840 kHz, at 2307 moved up to 6880 usb to escape the big wide noise. 6880 USB, Jan 21 at 2324, sounds like a 2-way QSO, at equal levels, talking about the Springfield, Mass. Armory station, the TIS on 1710 kHz. Federal government stations are not licensed by FCC, but NTIA. He had to file a FOIA request, and got a CDROM of such stations. What`s this? These say Mix Radio International but at this time carrying Andrew Yoder`s Hobby Radio show #3, interviewing Chris Smolinski: [www.hfunderground.com] (Glenn Hauser, OK)

DUSTY OHMS

6950USB 20 January 2023 2352-0023* Tuned-in to a data stream image of DUSTY OHMS. Readable after a 90-degree CW rotation, reversing the image, and stretching it a bit. Plus, three SSTV, all in Robot 36. Because of fading, the BC was just usable. Pop music. (25342, Hunsicker, PA)

HOBBY BROADCASTING RADIO

Hobby Broadcasting Radio (via Mix Radio International) 6880USB 21 & 22 January 2023 2330-0018* YL talking about an interview with Chris Smolinski, which then occurred. Mail drop for HBR. Closes with an ID for Mix Radio and then about three minutes of Promos for MRI. Ad for Black Cat Systems at 2352. (55555, Hunsicker, PA)

RADIO AZTECA / HOBBY BROADCASTING RADIO

6975.6AM 22 January 2023 1226-1346* A Radio Azteca relay and then a Hobby Broadcasting relay which started at 1247. Lobdell and Brownyard interviewed. The last half hour was unusable due to noise and dropping strength. (25242, then unusable; Hunsicker, PA)

UNIDS

6925U UnIdentified, 0122, 1.22.23. Rambling, disjointed monologue by a man. Off mid-sentence at 0124. Fair signal, weird content. (Taylor – WI)

6950 USB UnIdentified, 1.21.22. Music just above the static floor, 0126 rock starting to fade in although not enough to tell what, 0129 can tell ballad but not much else. … Tuned back at 0220 to hear "… Radio … Radio" then off. Poor to very poor. (Taylor – WI)

4187 USB UnIdentified, 2246, 1.20.23. Barely audible music (cannot tell what kind), Neil Young (by voice), several waterfall images - best decode was an Asian New Year's dragon face, lost signal or off. Might have had to do with Mushroom Head Radio on 4188 USB later. Poor signal. (Taylor – WI)

6924.85AM 22 January 2023 2114-2141* AM, but the waterfall did not look at all like AM—rather than a central spike, there was a ragged, asymmetrical bump. Faint, badly distorted, and unusable. (Hunsicker, PA)

6935AM 22 January 2023 2154-2229* Eye of the Tiger, Danger Zone, Hooked on a Feeling, others. While the bandwidth looked wider than 9K, the BC sounded best there. (45443, Hunsicker, PA)
