SANTA CLAUS RADIO

4185 USB Santa Claus Radio, 0030, 12.17.22. Program of less known big band Christmas themed music including “Christmas Rose” by Frankie Lane and “Don’t wait for the night before Christmas” by Sammy Kaye. IDs and “HoHoHo” between songs. Op was having problems with a hummy transmitter, which occasionally dropped out. Transmitter abruptly went to hum and off. Good signal until then. (Taylor – WI)

4185U X-FM, 0132, 12.18.22. Program of well chosen, less known, contemporary music including "Dani California" - Red Hot Chili Peppers, and 2 versions of "Some Velvet Morning" first by Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood , then Primal Scream & Kate Moss on a request. Redhat had frequent IDs and talk breaks. Cold due to no heat in the studio, lost his work gloves, doing shout outs to HF Underground logs, wishing listeners well, etc. Usual very well produced and professionally presented show. Still going at 0245. Good although periodically noisy signal. (Taylor – WI)

XFM, 4185 am, 12-18-22, 0208 utc on Traverse City MI sdr with fair S9 to S9+20 signal, excellent audio, listening in CQUAM stereo, hear rock tune sung by woman, at 0219 he read my comment on HFU, still going strong at 0349 with many nice pop tunes, off air at 0411 utc. 6930 USB Outhouse Radio, 0039, 12.19.22. Tuned in to “Are you enjoying yourself? … Outhouse Radio.” Into a program of punk music with Outhouse talking about the music between selections. Good to very good.

B-Side Radio 6935AM 17 December 2022 0028-0213* Carrier appeared at 0028. Generally unusable with occasional bits of audio. Talk of a just-played Blue Note Jazz recording at 0206 and an ID at 0208 with “Good Night.” (Unusable, Hunsicker, PA)

6950 USB, Dec 19 at 2354, S7/S9 of pirate music, Xmassy? The OSOB = only station on band. 2356 misc. noises; 2359 song, no ID circa ToH; Dec 20 at 0005 SSTV beepery but very repetitive unlike the usual but the standard end-of-picture beeps at the 0009 end: then followed by a voice ID but so ``produced`` it`s unreadable. Many reports here of Thunder Chicken Radio
[www.hfunderground.com] with several previous SSTVs but this one was a cartoon drawing of T.C. himself. Nothing more for a while and tune out as evidently signed off (Glenn Hauser, OK)

4060 USB WTF Radio Worldwide, 0100, 12.19.22. Atmospheric instrumental music, ID into a program of quite varied music. After 0130 played a number of songs by Chicago, the last being “25 or 6 to 4”. Off at 0200. Poor to fair at t/in improving to fair by s/off.

WTF Radio Worldwide, 6955 usb, 12-18/19-22, 2153 utc on Barrington Hills IL sdr with weak-noisy S5 to S7 signal, heard "WTF Radio Worldwide" then music, switched to Brookfield WI sdr at 2157 with better S7 to S9 signal, soft pop music, at 2300 classical xmas music with organ and orchestra then WTF ID with wishing everybody Merry Christmas, signal up to S9+10, was still on when I came back at 0010 utc after dinner etc with S9 to S9+10 signal, xmas tunes, thanks for the nice program. 6865 / 6985 USB 16 December 2022 2218-2345* Changed from 3600 Hz to 6000 Hz at 2223. Switched to 6975 at 2315. Music. Also, a rebroadcast of Andrew Yoder’s Hobby Broadcasting Radio program with Chris Lobdell and James Brownyard. (55555 to 45453, Hunsicker, PA)

UNIDS

4030 USB Unidentified, 0128, 12.17.22. Medley of songs from recorded musicals including “Mary Poppins” and “Fiddler on the roof” as well as other soundtracks. 0145 Indistinct talk (maybe an ID) and off. 0148 an Op. came back on with talk just at the static floor about appreciating live radio into several oldies including “I think I live you” and “Going up the country”, 0158 gives the wrong time, realizes that Ballsmacker is about to start and goes off just as Ballsmacker starts. Likely the same op from the hummy transmitter with both transmissions. (Taylor – WI)

6925 USB UnIds, 2229, 12.17.22. A mess at tune in with descending tones dominating "To sir with love" came up, YL rock singer, YL synth voice w/ ID (unintelligible), ~2234 off. When first signal went off second signal was there with barely audible music, off 2237. Any single signal would have been fair. A mess together. (Taylor – WI)

6930 USB UNID (name of the station), 2249, 12.17.22. Rock music (may also have been Jimmi Hendrix however not familiar), formal voice “If you hear me, stick your finger in your a**. Thank you for listening" repeated, "Midnight" - Jimmi Hendrix, other music (out of room), "Speak to me / Breathe" and others by Pink Floyd. Fair to good. Near end 3 SSTV (UNID – with question mark over I, poor catch – maybe an owl, UNID – same question mark), off. Noisy signal. (Taylor – WI)

6925 USB Unidentified, 2319, 12.20.22. Nice jazz versions of Christmas songs mostly on piano with one on vibraphone – “Merry Christmas to you”, Sleigh ride,” “What child is this?” Always nice to hear jazz on pirate radio. Fair.

6925 USB Unidentified, 0212, 12.21.22. Album rock versions of songs by ELO, Deep Purple, Blue Swedes, Five Man Electrical Band and others. Signal deteriorated from fair to unusable after 0220.

6955 am, 12-17-22, 0017 utc on Barrington Hills IL sdr with weak S5 to S9 signal, techno pop music, pause, rock tune sung by woman at noise level. (Hassig-IL)
