== Commentary ==

There has not been much rain this July in Wyomissing--until yesterday, one inch when there should have been four or five. It has been hot, too, and the ground is now very dry. Since my main antenna is a DX Engineering Amplified Vertical, which relies on a good ground (via an 8' ground rod), I wonder if reception with that antenna has been degraded by a poor ground caused by the dry soil.

This spring I changed the feedline to direct burial coax. Maybe I should parallel it with a water line! Perhaps one of the readers has experience in drip-irrigating their ground rods?

On St. Michel des Saints QC sdr with fair/poor S9 to S9+20 signal, heard piano interval signal then Ballsmacker ID then pop music, get throbbing hissing sound QRM, now I hear C&W music sung by women, at 0029 switched to Normal IL sdr with fair S7 to S9 signal, at 0123 Frank Sinatra "love and marriage" (the theme from "married with children"), off at 0239 with piano IS but no announcement. 7/23, 0031, 6924.2am. On St. Michel des Saints QC sdr with fair/poor S7 to S9 signal, heard blues tunes with harmonica, program about beginnings of rock and roll especially the tune "rocket 88", off suddenly at 0108. (Hassig-IL)

7/27, 0142-0226 (at least), 6930usb. I listened until 0203 but left the radio and MMSSTV running. Piss Ann sent an SSTV ID at 0152 in Scottie 1 and the picture of an ant at 0201. After I left the shack there were three more SSTV images: 0212, 0218, and 0226. (25342, Hunsicker, PA)

** Radio Pushka

7/27, 0623, 6920- am. Slightly on minus side, July 27 at 0623 rock music S7/S8, 0633 announcement sounds like Radio Christian -- something, but no such music; deep fades but S9+10 peaks. I undoze at 0722 for another ID like that. Nothing reported this late in HFU, altho Corn Desert Outpost was on 6920 USB earlier until 0210; but this is probably it from 4 nights earlier: [www.hfunderground.com] ``Shortwave_listener British Columbia, Canada: Radio Pushka 6920 AM 0545 UTC 23 Jul 2022 « on: July 23, 2022, 0549 UTC » Exact frequency is 6919.96 kHz. S9 with the KPH KiwiSDR in California. Extremely weak carrier present at my QTH. This station has been going non-stop since July 7. 0545 UTC-Music, 0549 UTC-Station ID.`` It`s Russian-ethnic, Pushka meaning gun or rifle (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Rock, 2 waterfall sends over music, dog howl, ID, "Relax" - Frankie goes to Hollywood, several IDs over song, "Enjoy the silence (hands & feet mix)" - Various artists & Derek Martin, 2 men … "What are you doing? … Broadcasting." over music, more ID's, Sycko talking over music, "Bizarre love triangle" - Mode Division, "Don't you want me?" - The Human League into more music and Sycko madness. Familiar 80's song, SSTV (Man with a helmet, single ray from glasses, smoking a pipe with "Sycko Radio" four times), "Whisper to a Scream" - Bobby O, interrupted song for fax signal (can't decode here), "The Power" - Stereo Revision, fax and several other modes with pauses between sends until 0138 "Come back to me (1990 Remix Extended Version)" - Prototype & Madeline Red into another group of various digital modes, "Max mix, Part 1” - Mike Platinas. 7/23, 0905, 6925usb. Left radio and MMSSTV running and went off to bed. I found an SSTV image in Scottie 2 that was logged by MMSSTV at 0905. It consisted of the three letters "QRM." Due to the noise, the image was pretty rough. (Hunsicker, PA)

Redhat talking into ID's, requests to XFMshortwave @ gmail.com, "Music to the power of X", canned ID, music (too noisy to identify), gave last 2 song’s information (one from 2010), ID, “What do I have to do?" - Stabbing Westward, "Leave a scar" - Marilyn Manson, ID, "Locked in a cage" - Skillet, Redhat reminicing about hearing last song for first time, shout outs to HFU (incl. me), email address, mentioning being behind in QSL's, offering QSL's for reprots , reading from emails, etc. I had to pull the plug at this point. ** Free Radio Service Holland

7/24, 1958, 6185.040. Pirate Free Radio Service Holland with publicized broadcast, rock, mentions YouTube, DJ in Dutch, S7/S8 into UTwente, 1959 English ID, 2000 ``Dave Scott`s Radio Waves on FRS Holland``. Nominal span was 19-21 UT. ACI from 6180, German weather station. Unfortunately at 20-22 UT Sundays I like to listen to `Wind & Rhythm` band music, and `Feminine Fusion`, classical music composed and/or performed by women, on KUCO in $tereo. Two other FRSH frequencies turned out to be flexible as many others reported, 7700 and 5800 up or down to avoid QRM. More such programming planned next two Sundays, except no 6185 on July 31 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
