From Ed Cummings: NYC-Area Landlords Get Pirate Letters;

FCC Enforcement Bureau traced FM signals after receiving
complaints

Continuing its efforts to fight illegal broadcasts, the Fede-
ral Communications Commission has sent notices to five proper-
ty owners and managers in and around New York City.

The letters from the Enforcement Bureau inform the owners that
the FCC, after receiving complaints, traced unlicensed signals
to each property in April, May or June. These letters inform
the owners that under federal law, anyone who allows pirate
radio broadcasting on a property can face significant financial
penalties  up to $2.1 million.

The recipients are given 10 business days to show that they are
no longer permitting pirate radio on their properties and to
identify individuals engaged in pirate radio on the property
that they own or manage.

-Paul Wilfred got a notice about broadcasts on 90.9 MHz in
Cambria Heights.

-Jean Yvon Francois and Elcie Francois-Lapomarede got a letter
about signals on 87.9 in Brooklyn.

-2062 Holding Corp. and its CEO Abe Soloff received a notice
for a complaint of unlicensed broadcasts on 105.7 in the Bronx.

-Rachel Bridge Corp. and its Managing Agent Solomon Schwimmer
were sent a notice about transmissions on 93.3 near Washington
Heights.

-And Michelle Hepburn got a notice regarding 104.5 in Mount
Vernon, N.Y.

      specifically for Ballsmacker as the frequency was a mess.
      0106 able to separate the signal, however did use LSB.
      CDO ran an SSTV and went off @0112, so full AM for Ball
      Smacker available thereafter. Empty Garden - Elton John,
      ID, Ev'ry time we say goodbye - Ella Fitzgerald, Evil
      woman - Electric Light Orchestra, ID & eQSL offer,
      Eminence Front - The Who. A mess with CDO on USB, then

      signal, heavy metal tune from a concert recording, @0100

7/16, 0025, 6960/U; Daydream, The fool & me - Robin Trower,
      0039 ID Rise Biscuits Power Hour album, one of the first
      albums CDO ever heard, Bridge of sighs, Day of the Eagle
      all Robin Trower. At 0059 Ballsmacker’s IS started &
      program began in AM making a mess of the USB side of the
      frequency. CDO ran an SSTV (didn’t decode here) & went

      goes down to 6925U then about a minute later jumps back to
      6930U - Take my hand - Dido; 2352 – slides down to 6925U
      then up to 6930U just after a message in HFU's Discord
      channel; finished “Take my hand”, “Clever Name Radio” w/
      series of ID's & QSL offer, start of See Emily Play -

DAMN SKIPPY/OUTHOUSE RADIO:

7/17, 0025-0047*, 6955/U; Two conjoined segments featuring pseudo
      PSA of what free radio citizens could do in the face of FCC
      activities. Pirate-theme song followed. Good signal.

7/17, 0056, 6925/U; Solo guitar, OM w/few words, rock n' roll
      w/waterfall images (didn't have Easypal going), off key
      fanfare, announcement about evacuation in the event of a
      nuclear attack (50s era), Pounding QRM starts, sounds
      like intentional jamming over next part of program, Damn
      Skippy went off. Jamming continued briefly. Fair until

      to S9 signal, hear old heavy metal tune Hell's bells, DJ
      said: "I think I'll call this Ice Man Radio", @0003 played
      What's the frequency Kenneth?, @0013 Smells like teen spirit,
      I requested: Never say never by Romeo Void, @0030 he played

      False Dichotomy - Metric, DJ Dickweed with banter & a
      couple of ID’s when first tuned in. lots of good music &
      talk. Soft trash – Elf Power was last song, DJDW gave ID,
      announced the song & went into ending comments, shouted
      out to the folks who posted in HF Underground, thanked
      listeners & off. Broadcast fading in and out throughout

7/21, 0136, 6925/U; End of an unfamiliar oldies song, KC Kasim
      w/DJ chat, Ball of confusion (That's what he world is today)
      The Temptations. Into a program of KC Kasim DJ talk of the
      top 40 for the week (not specified), playing the hits of
      the day, ads (including a Winston cigarette commercial just
      before end of program). Off 0141. Some confusing music then
      OM with "W A N K. The wanker." Off. After about 45 seconds
      there was some unintelligable OM talking for a few seconds.
      Off for good. Poor to fair (Taylor – WI) [Supposedly Anchor
      instead of Wanker.]

COMMENTARIOS

Rick Barton: YHWH postal address is: J. Elias, c/o M. Elliott,
PO Box 134, Olancha, CA 93549. I did get a lengthy letter from
the op and 3 CDs, some info on why he chooses the frequencies
he has been using, mentioned he is using a gasoline powered
generator and limiting its use now due to high gas prices. All
of it hand written with a P.S. on the outside of the envelope. 

Bram Stoker: I understand that there was post on HFU wondering
about me.  I’m still about, and waiting for the HFU crowd to
share their logs here.
