The Free Radio Weekly (FRW) is an internet newsletter devoted to the hobby of listening to free radio "pirate" broadcasters in the shortwave radio bands. The FRW is produced by the free radio community and distributed to those who contribute.

The weekly deadline is Saturdays at 0000 UTC (Friday night in North America). Please send your logs to all the editors, as our editing schedule is subject to last minute changes. Thank you for your inpoots!

7/3, 0034, 6960usb. At 0034, ``Dream x 3`` song, classic rock, S3/S4 vs storm noise level hitting S8. Off by 0055 check but then there are 6950 and 6955. Zero logs of 6960 tonight at HF Underground, but 24 h earlier, Ballsmacker Radio was widely reported (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

7/9, 0111, 6960am. On Brookfield WI sdr with fair S9 to S9+15 signal, song: "life in the fast lane" playing, at 0122 song: "life is a rock but the radio rolled me", nice variety of tunes with the word "life" in them, at 0248 bowling ball sound then SSTV/FAX, goodbye announcement then piano IS then carrier off at 0252. 7/13, 2346-2353+, 6930usb. “Yo Ho Ho, you’ve got the mid-week hump day show” featuring Pink Floyd. Another sound-alike, me-too rock music pirate. S10 peaks (Frodge-MI)

** Damn Skippy

7/3, 0056, 6955usb. At 0056, romantic/love song segués, much weaker S7 than 6950 Wolverine, past 0113, JBA by 0120. These say it`s Damn Skippy, with several copies of four different SSTV images: [www].hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,99152.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

7/11, 0201, 6860usb. On Brookfield WI sdr with fair S9 to S9+10 signal and occasional static crashes, pop tune sung by woman, excellent easy listening program of smooth jazz and pop, thanks for the tunes, off at 0445 utc. (Hassig-IL)

7/10, 0407-0449, 6925usb. Left the radio and MMSSTV running and woke up to find three SSTV images in Scottie 2. 0407, 0717, and 0449 UTC. The second image added more info to first and the third, which follows, added more info the second. (Hunsicker, PA)

7/10, 2324, 6925usb. Rock/prog music, "WTF Radio Worldwide" ID at 2331. Solid s15 on the R-75. (Will-MD)

** XFM

7/10, 0250-0312+, 6285am. Red Hat with chatter, said he's made changes, but doesn't sound as solid as in the past. "XFM music to the power of X, broadcasting to you from east of the Rockies and west of nowhere", into pop ditties. XFMshortwave@gmail.com. 0308 acknowledged Bram Stoker’s post on the Free Radio Net. Said signal quality may be affected by using a crystal microphone. Unlike many pirates, Red Hat has a microphone and knows what it’s for. Red Hat cmtry on cell phones. S9 w/occ’l buzz burst QRM. (Frodge-MI)

7/10, 0302, 6285am. On Barrington Hills IL sdr with weak S7 to S9 signal, dance music, at 0306 switched to Brookfield WI sdr with fair S9 to S9+10 signal, DJ talking about HF underground posts including mine, many nice tunes, thanks. Still on at 0537 when I couldn't stay awake any longer and closed down. (Hassig-IL)

7/12, 0405, 7475am. In progress at tune-in. Many of Josiah's familiar themes, w/ the Commandments list of Exodus and Deuteronomy at 0438, and "I encourage you to burn your flags" Days of Hard Life to live closing ann at 0454. At 0458, "So long 'til next time, I love you, good night, folks" and OFF -- Good (Barton-AZ)

7/12, 0438, 7475am. Josiah’s voice at QRN level; barely detectable a few min. earlier. Best in LSB as usual (Frodge-MI)

7/13, 0345, 7475am. (was in progress at tune-in). Josiah Elias, critical of modern Israeli culture ("There are gay parades in Jerusalem:). Heard on RS SW-2000629 and indoor wire (due to weather), and wrapping up w/ "I love you, good night" 0426 -- Good (Barton-AZ)

7/14, 0405, 7475am. In progress at tune-in, heard on RS SW-2000629 and indoor wire (due to weather), familiar voice of Josiah. Rig's green tuning eye lighting up, but signal undermodulated, so following content was difficult. -- Poor to Fair (Barton-AZ)

7/15, 0440, 7475am. Heard on Drake SW1 longwire. Ten Commandments list, asking listeners to burn flags. Days of Hard Life song at 0500 when a sudden electrical storm came up & we had to cut the longwire, fininshing the bx with the German Satellit 205 (DV portable) and indoor wire. (Signal good enough tonight - that was all that was needed). Live with closing ann & off 0502 -- Very Good (Barton-AZ)

** Zeeky/Stoner Radio International

7/9, 2248-2319+, 6931usb. Pop/rock/blues; “You are tuned to Stoner Radio Int’l, enjoy the trip & smoke the grass.” IDs repeated by M&W. 2314:08 “Greetings stoners, this is Stoner Radio Int’l” repeated by M. 23:18:40 "Greetings stoners and heads, Zeeky is in the transmitter shack taking a leak" repeated by W. SIO=3+53+ w/some off/on problems (Frodge-MI)

7/9, 2325, 6931/6935usb. Stoner Radio International. On Barrington Hills IL sdr with fair S7 to S9 signal, hear esoteric music, at 2327 woman said "greetings stoners (etc)" several times but I was unable to copy the rest of it, electronic music, at 0003 was on 6935usb. (Hassig-IL)

7/9, 2341-0007*, 6935usb. Trouble with the mic circuit. Recorded music okay. Complained about conditions, but things were fine in Wyomissing. Mentioned changing frequency (35454, Hunsicker, PA)
