BALL SMACKER RADIO:
6/25, 0100, 6960/AM; Piano IS, ID, Go all the way - The Raspber-
ries, Southern man - Neil Young, ID, Straight on - Heart.
0123 Southern cross - Crosby, Stills & Nash, ID into a
fade. Generally fair signal with slow fades in & out for
the entire program. (Taylor – Wi)
6/26, 0112, 6960/AM; on Barringtom Hills IL sdr with fair S9
to S9+10 signal but some static, tuned in locally with
fair/poor S9+10 to S9+20 signal over S9+10 neighborhood
noise, @0118 switched to St. Michel des Saints QC with
fair/good S9+10 to S9+20 signal, seems to be a travel
themed program, at 0242 utc fading away on both St. Michel
des Saints QC & Barrington Hills IL sdr with S7 on both.
Nice program, thanks for the tunes. (Hassig-IL)
6/26, 0202-0247, 6960/AM w/pop music & YL ancmts, including
Don’t Turn Around (Ace of Base), Never Been Any Reason
(Head East), :outh Of The Border (Ed Sheeran) & others,
On the Turning Away (Pink Floyd), South Side (Moby), Turn
Your Love Around (George Benson) & the classic Whoot,
There It Is (95 South), among many others. I’m guessing
the theme was direction or navigation’ or something simi-
lar. Also many YL IDs & mention of 6960 AM etc. Ended w/
yet another new SSTV image & Wildfire. 454+44--Zichi MI
Ball Smacker.jpg
6/26, 0234-0236+, 6960/AM; Turn Turn Turn, pin crash, “69-60
kiloHertz AM”. SIO=4+53 (Frodge-MI)
CLEVER NAME RADIO:
6/27, 2320-2326*, 6925/U; ID & email address repeated three
times at sign-off. (35343, Hunsicker, PA)
GOOD TIMES RADIO:
6/24-25, 2348-0029, 6940/AM; Eye of the Tiger, Danger Zone,
Hooked on a Feeling, others. 9000 Hz bandwidth. ID @2359
(45444, Hunsicker, PA)
6/25, 0002, 6940/AM; on Brookfield WI sdr with poor S9 signal
and atmospheric static, song "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago.
(Hassig-IL)
MIX RADIO INT’L;
6/25, 0012, 6860/U; on Brookfield WI sdr with good S9+10 signal,
instrumental jazz-rock playing, looks like very wideband
signal on waterfall. (Hassig-IL)
6/25, 0037, 6860/U; Cool Jazz via MRI, End of jazzy song, 0039
“Cool jazz" ID, bit of music, MRI ID, into mellow jazz.
Program of mellow jazz with UK accented DJ announcing
music, discussing folks sending e mails & mentioning MRI
with “Cool Jazz” ID’s. Lots of light jazz. Good with
MRI’s usual wide USB signal. (Taylor – Wi)
6/25-26, 2337, 12090/12095/U; on Barrington Hills IL sdr with
clear S7 signal, nice jazz tune, @2341 stn adjusted freq
up to 12095, @2350 tuned in locally with fair S9 signal,
less neighborhood noise on 12mhz compared to 7mhz, just
for laughs I tuned it in on Cork, Ireland sdr & it was
barely audible with S5 signal, @0020 tried Maui HI sdr
with very weak but audible S3 signal, still S9+ locally,
still on @0215 nice music, thanks (Hassig-IL)
6/26, *0238:40-0402:34*, 6980/DSB (no carrier!) “Mix” music &
no ID/anmts until the end; including such hits as Dose
Your Dreams (Fucked Up) Every Other Night (Peter Bjorn &
John) & Friendly Aliens (Chad VanGaalen), not a single
one of which was familiar. FINALLY gave an ID @0332 “You
are Listening to Mix Radio Int’l on Shortwave” mumbled by
YL & “Thank you for tuning in to Mix” at s/off 0402:28
45544 some strange selective fading that looked like CODAR,
but wasn’t & the sidebands were not at all symmetric with
the USB looking wider than the lower but with some weird
patterned fading more obvious there (but present in both).
--Zichi MI
SYCKO RADIO:
6/25, 0318, 6950/U; ID "Sycko Radio", "What are we gonna play",
into Thomas Dolby Science. s7/s9 peaks, very good (Will-MD)
WDOG:
6/25, 0016, 6925/AM; on Brookfield WI sdr with fair/poor S9 to
S9+15 signal and some fading, @0020 switched to St. Michel
des Saints QC sdr with fair S9 signal & a bit less static,
@0029 dog barking. (Hassig-IL)
6/25, 0044, 6925/AM; End of song, ID, Friday on my mind - David
Bowie, off 0145. (Taylor – Wi)
WTF WORLDWIDE:

tunes like Lust For Life (Iggy Pop), Stand & Deliver (Adam
& The Ants), Country Road (Maynard Ferguson), Dangerous
Type (The Cars) among an eclectic mix. No ancmts heard
while I listened but HFU reporters said there were IDs
earlier). 35443+ with fades up to O=4--Zichi MI
6/26, 0236-0240+, 6880/U; Pop music, “WTF” @0240:40; not WTF
Worldwide. SIO=454 (Frodge-MI)
YEAH MAN RADIO:
6/24-25, 2336-0029, 6925/AM; Just usable with Million Dollar
Radio. ID @2340. Crazy Light My Fire (24332 Hunsicker PA)
YHWH:
6/26, 0415, 7475 In progress at tune-in. Familiar voice of
Josiah Elias, not able to follow due to poor rx here.
Long, deep fades & appeared to go off after 0440, but
returned @0446, tho WAAY out in the mud. .=Poor; Fair on
peaks Barton-AZ
6/27, 0400, 7475 We tuned in @0400 to static & station suddenly
cut in @0410 familiar op Josiah. F/G on ATS-505 & window
frame antenna (in use due to weather situation here). The
lecture heard is familiar territory. Fair-Good Barton-AZ
6/29, 0400, 7475/AM (in progress at tune-in), lot of familiar
territory here, including Commandments list & anti-war,
burn-your-flags lecture after 0430. "Shalom" & playing of
Days of Hard Life @0448, then to apparent live closing
segment. Off @0457 after "I love you take care 'til next
time, bye bye -- SIO 433 Barton-AZ)
6/30, 0435, 7475/AM; Josiah barely detectable in QRN. Best in
LSB as usual. (Frodge-MI)
7/1, 0400, 7475/A<M Josiah Elias usual Yahweh or the highway
lecture. Fair here, but we're using indoor antenna due
to nearby T-storm activity. 10 Commandments list @0430.
Closing ann, "I love you, thank you for tuning in, good
night" & off 0454. Fair Barton-AZ
7/1, 0438, 7475; off @04:54:05 with the usual "I love you".
Listening for the last half hour (04:38 at the moment).
Usual stuff. Fair amount of Summer static, so overall
fair to good into Masset. (Salimaniw)

COMMENTARIOS
Rick Barton: Hoping there will be a fair amount of Pirate acti-
vity for the 4th weekend. I appreciate them all, even if their
signals don't reach all the way out here. July 4 usually marks
the beginning of our severe thunderstorm season out here, but
the season began early this year, and I'm having to "cut off"
my outdoor long wires nearly every day. Hard enough to hear
eastern USA pirates even then, much less with indoor shortwires
or my improvised bedroom windowframe antenna. But, like the
cops aways say, "It is what it is". Wishing all a Happy 4th!
