For a while there I didn't have radios that could tune up above 1700 well, like my trusty GE Superadio, but I used to pull in crazy stuff on that, like a TIS station from North Carolina, and a Texas airport radio station around 1630. There were also several years of bad buzz from the power lines, so I didn't hear a lot of stuff like Celestial and W807 that others heard.
I always liked to hear mediumwave pirates since that's what I started with, like RNI, WENJ and Voice Of Tomorrow, and I liked the idea of low power AM band stations like from schools and our drive-in theater had on 530 for the movie sound. I was fascinated by small range stations like that, covering the area of a shopping center for example.
1720 is on this morning. My guess is it's a very low power station, maybe even part 15 power or close.
