George Zeller:

George Zeller passed away 3/20 in a house fire at his home in
Cleveland.

William Hassig:

Harold Frodge: George could often be seen at Indians’ games
sitting next to the man pounding the drum.  George was active
in the SW pirate arena, not as a broadcaster (as far as I know),
but as a documenter & historian.

Rob Ross: This is a hand-made QSL on a Cleveland Indians Post-
card that George sent me when I spotted him on TV during the
World Series, sitting in the bleachers beside the guy who beats
on the drum. I sent George a report telling him I spotted him
when the cameras scanned the bleachers. He sent me this QSL back.

      Fair – much better than 6930 USB earlier. (Taylor – WI)
3/21, 0224-0237:05*, 5165/U; Another rock music pirate. ID at
      0236:50 w/gmail addy & off. SIO=353- peaks w/QSB to zilch.

3/19, 0004, 6960/AM. Weak music in noisy conditions. Tough liste-
      ning. Gone 2349. Returned @0109, 3/20 with much better con-
      ditions. Tune Forget you, Protonmail address for e-QSL & ID,
      Spirit in the sky, Green onions, ID, Green river, “Friday
      nights at 9 PM Eastern, Its Ballsmacker Radio” sfx of bow-
      ling ball hitting pins. Into program with “green” theme in
      either the song name or artist name.  Fair to good at times

      be an American; 0131 Kermit The Frog, It`s Not Easy Bein’
      Green; 0133.6 ID missed, another ``green`` song? Maybe a

      barely hear music under the mud, @0152 improved to fair/poor,

      The Green Door by Jim Lowe. Ballsmacker ID @2115. Big Green

3/21, 2115, 6960/AM, very weak under noise at my QTH, also tuned
      in on Barrington Hills IL kiwi sdr & it is weak there too,
      then tried Dixon IL kiwi sdr & weak there too, hear urban
      contemporary music under the mud, then @2121 heard male
      speaking but was unable to understand him under the noise.

3/15, 0041, 6950/U; Several blues, 0051 ID into more blues. Sud-
      denly off at the end of a song at 0057.  Started out right
      at the static floor & improved to a little above S6,

FAKE WWV/OUTHOUSE RADIO

3/20, 0004-0024+, 6925/U; “WWV for the time of your life.” “We’ll
      be back in just a minute, but here’s another minute.” “WWV
      all the time all the time.” “Every second counts.” “WWV for
      the time of your life.” “For a good time call 555-4WWV.”
      1 sec. ticks sounds like someone hitting an empty can. 0012
      chimes, clip-clop into spooky music w/1 sec. ticks. 0019:34
      back to WWV anmts then more rock; tunes with “time” theme.
      S8 peaks w/buzz & hiss burst QRM (Frodge-MI)
3/20, 0008-0030, 6925/U; A show of slow scan images for ID &
      classic tunes about time. The show started out as a spoof of
      WWV.  Tunes heard were Time has come (Chamber Brothers),
      Money (Pink Floyd) & others. Poor-Fair signal (Majewski CT)
3/20, 0014, 6925/U. Pink Floyd, WWV humor “The time of your life,” 
      “Here’s a minute...here’s another minute,” etc. “Time has
      come today,” SSTV (the Outhouse Radio avatar with ID on
      bottom,) few words by op, “The game, bit of WWV, blues
      waterfall of avatar, hard rock into a program of mostly
      hard rock music, talk, shout outs (including me,) IDs.

3/21, 0026-0030*, 6930/U; Mucho Loco pirate playing hard rock w/
      somewhat distorted modulation w/OM ID & playing Shock the
      Monkey with OM saying “loco” over the top of record, etc.
      OM mention of frequency, mode & “Mucho Loco, Gone” & dead
      air for a minute, back @BoH w/another ID & mention of “blo-
      wing a gasket” & really gone at this point. 3+54+43+

      "nuttin' on shortwave" @2241 into some odd sounds & music.
      2245, callouts to listener reports, mentions George Zeller
      & says he's going to play some music for George. Into music
      by AC/DC, Shoot To Thrill. 2252, AC/DC, What You Do For
      Money. Fair to good signal, s7/s9, with some atmospheric
      noise. Faded down to the noise level at 2256. (Will-MD)

OUTHOUSE RADIO

3/14, 2114, 6925/U. Last few notes of a song, 2 SSTV (missed 1st,
      2nd – Outhouse’s avatar with “Outhouse Radio,”), playing a
      request, “Time to get out of here,” off. (Taylor – WI)
3/20, 2126, 6930/U, weak signal under the noise, Hollies’ Long
      Cool Woman in a Black Dress, Outhouse ID by male then CCR
      Green River, @2133 old timey sounding C&W tune sung by
      female, song Testing 1 2 3 can anybody hear me by Bare
      Nnaked Ladies who also sang the Big Bang song on TV, then

3/25, 2214-2220+, 6953/U; Low-key pop ditties; ID @2218:30 w/

3/25, 2241-2252*, 6953/U; distorted OM tx & nice sounding music,
      Allman Brothers Not my Cross to Bear & their Black
      Hearted Woman at :46. Then longer bit with OM (eeky?)
      talking at :48 & mentioning Allman Brothers. Also said
      he’s running remote control, mentioning Vermont & fast
      moving clouds in the area. WEZL ID at :49 into Dire

      mud, improved somewhat by 2220, unid pop/rock tunes, @2258

3/21, 0233, 4075/AM. Several contemporary rock songs segued, no

      only S9; 0237 segué to a heavy beat dance tune & cut off air
      at 0241:15*, no announcements. More logs as unID, some

“555” &/or “000” Beacon:

3/24-25, 2326-2400+, 6960/U; Sending code “555”; Not likely a
      pirate running this long; sounds like occ’ly sending
      “554”, “455”, “5II”, “II5” & “SS4”, but that may just
      be propagation chopping the 5’s. Yes, I listened to
      this for 34 min.! Is this “entertainment”, or what?
      All SIOs all the time? Still going @0025, 0118, 3/25;
      Not there @0320. (Frodge-MI)
3/25, 0130-0145, 6961/CW (6960/U?) with Morse Code ‘555’ sent
      repeatedly. Harold F heard this starting @2326 & although
      I didn’t interrupt my dinner to check, when I did get to
      the radio  as can be seen from the above, there is SOME-
      THING (a bit of a carrier maybe?) at 6960 but the code
      was squarely at 6961 kHz.

      I heard it still beeping away moderately strong 0130-0145
      but starting to fade by the end 25/Mar--Zichi MI
3/26, 2234; same as yesterday, except sounds more like “000”
      today; signal detectable on on 6960 USB; nothing on 6961.
