Given the lousy weather and the horrible conditions, I'm not surprised!by jtart - General radio discussion
Thru/over/mostly under WRKK, playing polka music! I've heard this before but never managed to eak out an ID. Next nearest station is WTLA, North Syracuse, NY, listed as ESPN; and WMUZ, Taylor, MI, which has become a religious station so they're not likely to break for polkas especially on Sunday morning; and there's WKST, New Castle, PA, which is listed as News/Sports... Anyone else hearing tby jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Well, sorta - it gave me a list of the album tracks but wouldn't let me download the tracks I wanted. Worse, when I tried to download the cover art I got a warning about "malicious pornographic" crap. I don't think it's a safe site.by jtart - The Swap Shop
Thanks for that, Joe. A little good news is always welcome.by jtart - General radio discussion
Modest signal in distant T-storm QRN, mostly playing blues (James Brown?). M ancr said "nobody's listening" and went off at 2352Z.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Loud & clear into WNY as well, until some sort of technical problem took them off the air.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Noted with a very up and (mostly) down signal in WNY. Went from S9 to virtually S0 in minutes.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Suspect WGGO, Salamanca, but... AoR (Steely Dan, Jethro Tull, Genesis) with "98 Rock" IDs. Got the FM callsign confirmed: WQRS. Therein lies the "but"; WGGO's FM callsign is WQRT, so did they also change calls? I'm soooo confused... I'm still listening at 1809Z and have heard no ID for the AM signal. Still later: It is WGGO after all. At 1900Z I heard a combo ID forby jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Apparently it was Insane Radio, per another site. Haddum here with occasionally a good signal but with much fading and possible drifting? Off rather abruptly.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Terrible news! John has been a friend of mine for many years and he certainly deserves a better fate. It can't hurt to keep him in our thoughts.by jtart - General radio discussion
Tuned in to S9+ signal with pop music. Shortly before 2200Z the signal took a nosedive to about S1, then settled about S4 to S5. There were audio pops on the signal, suggesting a bad connection somewhere. Later heard multiple IDs as "Lukewarm Radio" - another clever production of Cool AM.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Yeah; an interesting evening: Capt Morgan with a good signal at the same time as Wolverine Radio was on 6950U with a likewise strong signal. Sandwiched between them was that loud Link-11 xmsn. Morgan went off at 0208Z and Wolverine went off about 0210, only to be replaced by WDDR with a similarly strong signal. I switched the Pro3 to the wide filter and enjoyed the music!by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Into English at 1300Z with good signal into WNY. At 1315 into regional language. By 1330 signal beginning to fade. This xmsn runs until about 1500Z in various languages and is via a site in Yerevan, Armenia.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
That could explain the Male talker I thought I heard in the mess. Everything faded back to "normal" (meaning CIAO) by about 6:30 a.m. (1130 UTC) yesterday. Today I only heard the Spanish station and CIAO. Before the big storms, I used to get the RVC station from Turks & Caicos but I suspect I'm now hearing Cuba. They seem to have 50kW or more on every MW frequency!by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
The WNBC relay was loud and clear into WNY - with way too much echo! Some stations really over-did it.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
I'm only aware of two stations operating on 530 kHz: CIAO in Fort Erie, Ontario, and the RVC station in the Turks & Caicos Islands, yet this morning I was hearing at least three (maybe four) stations! One was a Male talker, one was playing sorta pop music, one was playing EZ listening. At the moment it sounds like someone is airing some Arabic vocals (that could be CIAO). So, where are theby jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Oldies over and mixing with the usual TIS stations. Just before 0000Z I identified Don MacLean's "American Pie" on a great signal peak, and I've heard a few other tunes I could ID. They are almost lost in the background noise as of 0145Z.by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
I checked there last evening and all I got was CKLW...by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
COOL AM in USB... S9 into WNY - and the audio sounds good!by jtart - Free Radio Logs
1,810 is in the CW segment of the 160 metre ham band, so there's not supposed to be any music there. But there is! I haven't heard a firm ID, but what I have heard is "AM 1490 and 93.5FM", a possible "Passport Radio", and a good oldies mix. The xmtr keeps cutting out but the modulation is quite good when it's on. Whoever is relaying this has a great signal into WNY: 20db overby jtart - Free Radio Logs
Thanks! I should have known that, but... My NRC AM Log still shows them as Fox Sports.by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Kinda hard to tune it - the signal is in and out of my local noise. Song "You Don't Know How It Feels". No ID or anmts heard yet. Off 1525 following a Grateful Dead tune.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Rock music on a fairly dominant signal this morning. My copy of the NRC Log shows one Korean station and all the others are Spanish or sports, so..? As I typed that they faded under a sports station! Any ideas?by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
O Haouli Makahiki Hou... Kung Hay Fat Choy... Wishing you a Happy New Year. jby jtart - General radio discussion
Someone is playing pop music on 1710 kHz; Little Eva, Greatful Dead, Allman Bros, and presently Emenince Front by The Who. There may have been voice anmts but I haven't been able to pull anything out. QRM from several TIS/HAR stations including Hudson County, NJ, and the Springfield (MA) Armory, but the music station generally dominates.by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Good fidelity and good music, M with ID at :49 also gave gmail addy, then back to music. The bands are pretty quiet this morning and this is good listening!by jtart - Free Radio Logs
I got it this morning in WNY! Xmas music from 1403Z tune-in to :15, then into a National ad string including Geico, tax relief, and Faith Publishing. At :19 there was a distinct silence (probably for a local drop-in), then back to non-stop Xmas mx. Signal peaked at more than S9 on the Pro3, but quickly faded into the muck by 1425Z. Whereever this one is they're running some power! Addendum:by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
On with "Reefer Man", then into sign-on amnt and then Raunchy Rick for Cannabis 41 - a true oldie from the 90s! Into Phil Muzik at 1535Z. For the record, the announced Battle Creek addy is long since gone; don't waste your postage... Fair to good signal into WNY: S2 to S6 on the Pro3.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Weak but readable at tune-in with period music and clips from the movie. Clear ID by M about 1722Z "This is Radio Casablanca". Signal deteriorated badly to s/off at 1734.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
0005 "Somebody Stole My Car Radio" until about 07. Maybe tracking an album? Decent signal; S5 to S8 into WNY.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
