L&C here, but I tuned in just as the last tune was fading out at 2121. Drat!by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Dick Biondi on WKBW (before he was on WLS and WJVA). Joey Reynolds on WKBW. Arnie "Woo-Woo" Ginsberg on WMEX. Barney Pipp on KYW. Yeah, Cousin Brucie on WABC, the WMCA Good Guys (570, NYC), 1010 WINS and the age old WMGM (1050, NYC). Then there was the WNDR Good Guys (1260, Syracuse, NY) and WARM (590, Scranton, PA) for daytime listening... Man, those were the days. Remember whenby jtart - General radio discussion
Can you imagine what the rest of the world thinks when they hear all this crap..? And to endure Trump on top of all that!by jtart - Other logs
An old "radio friend" has died: Arnie "Woo-Woo" Ginsberg was an evening DJ on WMEX - 1510 in Boston back in the late 1950s and early 60s. I listened to him in bits and pieces - when WKBW (1520) faded down WMEX usually faded up, so I always had rock and roll for my listening pleasure. He also recorded the hit song "Baby Talk" with Jan Berry. The song was later reisby jtart - General radio discussion
The het I've been hearing isn't what you're hearing: The het disappears around 10 p.m., most likely WHLI ending their extended hours. Once they go off the frequency is nice and clear here with WTAM dominating and no 10Hz SubAudible Carrier. Conclusion: Probably closer to you and/or fairly low power. Has anyone else reported hearing this?by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
In English from prior to 4 a.m. ET until fade-out around 6:30 a.m. with something called "Ancient Word Radio", a soft-sell religious program, audible at or just above the noise level. Compared to 9395, 9455 and 9955 kHz, this is obviously beamed somewhere other than NAm. Is it a late afternoon program for Africa or an early morning program for SAm?by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
emailed a "very late report" this morning and received an eQSL within an hour. I thought it was China testing - but it was the old BBC site at Wofferton, UK. Signed by Dave G4OYX.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs

Offline due to computer failure; just got back on... 11610AM, 03/18, 1800-1811*. Snippets of music in several genres and announcement: "You are listening to a test transmission" and back to music. Twice I heard: "Send your reception reports to <transmissiontest@gmail.com>". Good signal, about S7. Within a few days I noticed CRI broadcasting here. 9860AM, 03/29,by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
My computer was on the fritz; just got it back today. 1710 kHz, 05/04, 0005-0020. Came on out of the blue with a S9+ signal - WAY over Hudson County - with light instrumental music. Played three tracks and disappeared. No voice heard. 1630 kHz, 05/24, 1030. HAR mixing with and mostly over KCJJ. Gave three IDs and mentioned Buffalo. "OK, It's traffic time..." Probably WPAN970 withby jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Still on mixing with dominant KCJJ, mostly under but came up loud and clear for one ID around 2100Z. First time clearly heard on this frequency. Not heard on 1710.by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Uninterrupted instrumental xmas music from tune-in to present with no anmts or ID heard. Peaking about 10 dB over S9 into WNY. Pretty steady signal. Bet it's not from the North Pole... Around 0120Z a Brit-sounding M ancr came on with a lot of chatter over the music. Claimed to be from Lapland. Still no IDs heard.by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
A little over S9 into WNY on the Pro3. Same shouting DJ playing oldies. Frequent IDs as Tater Patch Radio and WPEX - 90.9. Not a trace of Springfield, Hudson County, or Flight 93 HARs.by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Instrumental music with no anmts at all. I've been listening for about an hour with no IDs. Definitely not Tater Patch Radio; another site sez Radio Corsair, but you couldn't prove it by me. Nice signal despite the QRN level - 10 over S9 on peaks! M ancr at 0134Z with ID as Radio Corsair. Also gave email addy but I didn't copy it. Also sed he'd be back in two or three days.by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Good one! Maybe she knows Miss Information? ;) Checked 1710 last evening but didn't hear them this time.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Boogie-Woogie and blues music with good modulation, and YL ancr who is intelligible. Poor to Fair signal into WNY. Deep, complete fade-outs and only fair on peaks. Little heard of Hudson Cty, NJ. At 0000Z YL with ID for 90-something FM "WPEX" - so Tater Patch Radio. Sure enough, the same shouting M ancr made an appearance. Conditions are not great tonight...by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
I've heard this previously but here they are again. Apparent Tater Patch Radio with yelling young male announcer and a variety of rock music. ID by yelling DJ who said he was on until "11 o'clock". Fairly strong signal - completely drowning out Hudson Cty HAR at times, but also fading out almost completely in between peaks. No trace of Springfield Armory or Flight 93 HARs. Produced Iby jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Ambient, trance, dance music pretty much non-stop with killer S9 +30db signal on peaks. At one point I heard a M voice saying something over the music but I couldn't pull it out. Fades out completely between peaks. Hudson Cty HAR audible weakly in the background AND another music station with foreign language vocals. 0125Z: M with several clear IDs as Radio Corsair indicating that they were abby jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Decent signal into WNY. Stood by for boats and planes with no response.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Variable, fadey signal; sometimes S7, sometimes not there at all. Acoustic jazz music with occasional IDs as The Sunday Morning Jazz Brunch. No address given - but no SSTV, either!by jtart - Free Radio Logs
That one was Pee Wee Radio. Heard 'em here with some great guitar playing.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
I recently re-acquired a RatCrap PRO-2006 400-memory analog scanner which, admittedly, is of somewhat limited value these days. I vacuumed the dust bunnies from inside and cleaned the pots, and am in the process of cleaning some of the grunge off the outside of the case. Unfortunately, it does exhibit the standard weak back light panel for the display: "bright" is dim and "dim&qby jtart - The Workshop

Fair to decent into WNY, but still has the audio distortion. Can't tell if it's an overdriven pre-amp somewhere or RF getting back into the audio. Off around 0145Z.by jtart - Free Radio Logs

One of the few signals audible on 31m this morning, and in English. Fair to poor signal with significant fading. M & F presenters with low-key religious programming. Short-wave.info sez from Alaska. First time heard at this QTH.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
Apparent sign-on as AWR in English, then into African vernacular. Signal fair to good, about a S6 on peaks. Musical interlude at 2100Z, then off w/o anmts. Most likely from Madagasgar site.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
They run Bloomberg Radio on Sundays (at least), and the signal got fairly good around local sunset, but every time they did a local ID they faded to unreadable. The NRC log shows nobody carrying Bloomberg. Any ideas?by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Decent signal into WNY - waayyy over the Hudson Cty HAR and the Flt 93 Memorial HAR - sometimes up to a S7 on the Pro3. Right after 0000 there were two clear IDs, then they began the Ultimate Party program with the same yelling DJ I heard last time. At the moment (0011Z) they're about even with several HAR stations.by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
