Mash-up sound bites, CW ID at 2049, off at 2050. Decent sig into WNY.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
On with S7 to S9 signal into B-52's "Channel Z". Some serious fading noted, otherwise a good signal into WNY.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Must have *just* missed s/on; music in process when I tuned in at 1248 UTC. ID given as 2014 xmas Special, then gmail addy, and into Wizard "Wish It Cud B Xmas Every Day". Frequent IDs throughout. Signal fair to good into WNY, ranging S4 to S9.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Must've been xmtr trouble; they came on at 1730Z with the close of Vatican Radio...by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
Not there Dec 18th at 1330Z and 1643 re-check. Wonder if it's xmtr trouble or the backers ran out of money already..? Guess we'll have to wait and see.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
If the sparks fly... Hey; why not? You talk about it on the air!! ;)by jtart - General radio discussion
Radio Argentina Nacional fair into WNY with SS talk and some music. Time pips at 2230, then more music.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
YL speaking, then some EZ music to end of xmsn. Weak but readable signal with no QRM. Listed as being from the Madegasgar site.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
Hmmm... The byline for this section says, "A place for general discussion" and does not limit things to general *radio* discussion. Personally, I think "general discussion" includes politics, religion, and sex - along with everything else, even radio-related topics, with the understanding that this is, in general, a radio site. Of course, at my age I'm entitled to be somewhby jtart - General radio discussion
Thanks, Bram. I found this site but thought it a bit "clunky" to navigate.by jtart - Other logs
Thanks! Managed to ID all of them at this site. Guess CLB was my best "DX".by jtart - Other logs
Is there an online longwave NDB list somewhere? I'd like to know where these are. (later: I've been able to ID a few) 217 - CLB, Wilmington, NC - 400 watts!? 261 - PTWA 264 - YGK, Kingston, ONT 267 - ZHM 273 - YGA 345 - AVN 369 - ZYZ 386 - ZDH 392 - OO, Oshawa, ONT 398 - ZHA 409 - SN, St Catherines, ONT All heard this evening (12/13, 0015+ UTC). And I bet with a better LW antennaby jtart - Other logs
An apparent relay of an FM station (95 something FM, possibly KTBN or similar) featuring two males doing a lot of talking and some classic rock. They have said they were at the Hermantown WalMart doing a promotion, and mentioned the "North Country". Weak sig (maybe a Grenade?) and nearly buried by the pestadores at times. Another Red Rock Radio at 0005Z. Weather report at 0007. So, wby jtart - Free Radio Logs
Not the usual suspects (BPM or PPE), no beeps or ticks, just a steady 1kHz tone behind WWV on 10 MHz. Not noticed on any of their other frequencies. Any ideas? Update: As of 2115 the steady tone is gone - and PPE is audible in the background with normal time signals. Maybe they were doing some testing or something..?by jtart - Other logs
Tuned in at 1750 to weak and fluttery signal. 4 + 1 pips at 1800, followed by YL with news (couldn't tell if it was in EE), but back to music by 1806 - so maybe the ten minutes of EE is no more? Slightly improved signal by 1830 UTC.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
A quick correction to my last post: The bill is for $1.1 Trillion! Like Congress says, what's a few zeros?? Assuming the House passes it, the Senate will have a ball trying to read all 1600 pages and vote on it in a few hours...by jtart - General radio discussion
Sorry to say it, but it looks like they've reached an agreement after all - a $1.1Billion funding bill which covers everything (except Homeland Insecurity) through next September. Dang it! I was looking forward to another brief period of anarchy!by jtart - General radio discussion
Weak, fluttery signal into WNY in English. Off promptly at 1900Z. Back on in Pashto at 1916 with slightly weaker signal. First time on this frequency.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs

"dsyfunction"?? ;)by jtart - General radio discussion
Someone really needs to get their act together at the xmtr site. The cue tones aren't doing their job. I was just listening to Radio Blues Int'l when it was interrupted by a station promo, which was interrupted by an ad, which was interrupted by classical music! And how many times are folks going to listen to The 1812 Overture segue into Neil (one note) Young's "Horse with no Name"?by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
Came on originally with audio problems - bad audio patch cord or just lousy contact somewhere - and into mostly jazz. Played a track by Mamas and Papas early on and ended with a rare track by Doors before leaving the air at 0020. Clear and readable USB signal, but not terribly strong into WNY From 0012 they were clobbered by Radio Free Gutterville "non-stop music" in AM which cause qby jtart - Free Radio Logs
It's official. Family Radio has bought WQEW - 1560 for $12.95 million. Don't know when they'll start preaching at us. :(by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Neglected to note exact sign-on time, but Liquid Radio came on around 0200Z with a decent signal: S5, peaking to S7, with trance music. Nice signal into WNY! M with ID 0208 UTC.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Anniversary program, including a terrible version of "With A Little Help from my Friends" and "I Am The Anti-Christ", and a discussion of his induction to pirate radio. S6 to S8 into WNY with some very long, extremely deep fades (like, they just plain disappeared!). Originally came on over Son of Lincolnshire Poacher... 0018 into a song for Radio Animal! Off at 0053 fby jtart - Free Radio Logs
Absolutely a good strong signal into WNY. I don't recognize any of the music, but ID at 2353Z. Mostly holding 10 over S9, but with some deep fades. Reported elsewhere as PRB! Update: As of 0000UTC Radio Free Whatever (late) Halloween Show. Again, great signal on peaks, but completely gone on fades. Same xmtr as previous. Gotta say: I truly enjoy the music that RFW plays: Things that I don'tby jtart - Medium Wave Logs
OK, I'm gonna try this. It may not work from my connection, so wish me luck...by jtart - QSLs
I haven't heard or seen anything about it. And why are they starting at 2300Z instead of waiting until 0000?? Not that it matters, I suppose...by jtart - General radio discussion
It's been years since I found that info, so I cannot quote you chapter and verse. It may, in fact, be part of the FCC Rules & Regs (as is the requirement that domestic SW stations run a minimum of 50kW), or it may be part of the ITU Conventions to which the USA is a signatory. I'd be willing to bet that if you tried a Google search you could find the source of that info. If you can't, I'dby jtart - General radio discussion
