Weak audio, from 'A Christmas Carol' heard fading IN / OUT. Did not get an ID, but HFU reported as Community Radio Network. Also, other carrier HET's in there.by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
Boomer, came across this. Good, to see others running with this. UPDATE 1/1/2024: Geez... I just hope that I didn't add to this op's on / off arguments on Part 15 station publicity and operations. But, goto , check-out the POSTS, and there's back & forth controversy upon the legits of a Part 15 op. What I don't like is when others insist to tell you how to run your station. Really??? Actually, and even a bit reluctantly, I see Rand's point that we shouldn't force manufacturers to do this, but should be a consumer-based demand decision. Suggest, but not force.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
FWR, from an HFU post, from a Radio World article. But, still interesting, eh?by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Anyone, ever heard of this site before? Ran into that at .by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Boomer, FWR me this link. Always, good INFO to know. I use those LM???? Voltage Regulators a lot.by ThaDood - The Workshop
Uh... Figures... I have someone, out by Spokane, WA, wanting to have a sched with me on 10M. Well, probably not this weekend. Then again, listen for buzzy sounding QSO's of Aurora on 10M and espscially 6M.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Keeping one of those Midland FRS / GMRS bubble-pack HT's as a continuous scanner, I was hearing a fast ID on CH16, or 462.575MHz GMRS FREQ. This super cold-snap really must have brought foliage absorption to nil, since I hear the WRDM641+/R, Eastside System 641, GMRS repeater. I got more INFO by logging back on to MY-GMRS page at I've sent a repeater-access request, and we'll see if I get onby ThaDood - Other logs
So, has anyone heard any Part 15 Christmas Display stations on-air yet? The usual dude, about a mile away from me, doesn't have his FM station up, yet. And, definitely Part 15. Five houses away, ya lose it. UPDATE 11/28/2023 : Actually, that dude that does the fully all-out X-mas display about a mile from me, had his FM TX on 101.3FM, STEREO pilot detected, but just dead-air. So, he hasn't puby ThaDood - General radio discussion
SWL'ing rip. No telling if this includes the 'standard disclaimer'. (Hi-hi...)by ThaDood - General radio discussion
It is always neat to tune-in and hear just how they coordinate this to make it happen.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
I guess that this can go here. Tim, K8RRT shared that. Me??? I've done the best of both worlds, Vertical Dipoles.by ThaDood - The Workshop
Neat!!! Ya know, I do miss those 1970's, and early 80's, analog, high-powered, table radios from Sony, Panasonic, Realistic, and I had one from RCA, that mysteriously just disappeared on me. (Huh???) Not the best DX'ers, but I did like the warm, rockin', audio from those.by ThaDood - The Workshop
Neat find on Archive.org, Not knowing upon just how long this will be up, you may want to take advantage of this and download as much as possible.by ThaDood - The Workshop
I read this and say, "HUH???" BTW, they've also released their latest podcast,by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Interesting. You would have thought that interest in 2M Weak Signal Modes would have gained momentum during Solar Cycle Minimum. However, in West Virginia, there's been more talk from ops being interested in doing so, now. Part of this interest stems from the fact that when crap hits the turbines, and power is not there to maintain FM repeaters, a reliable alternative option for regional communicby ThaDood - General radio discussion
Heard it again, on the drive home, last night. This time, very distorted audio. I could not even understand the announcer. And, again deep fades, and signal perking to an S2, when I did check it back out at the home QTH. So, someone hearing other stuff on 1710kHz? Someone, on the HFU, suggested that it could be 1660kHz WTOU spurs.by ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
With deep, long, fades, but heard what sounded like Earth, Wind & Fire, then announcement of 'Signature Radio' followed by old-school Hip-Hop. 1st, heard on a truck stereo, but at home, DSL noise was in there with this. Still, good to hear some activity up there and not the usual NJ TIS pest of a station. UPDATE 10/28/2023: Heard it again, last night. This time, used the Sangean ATS-803Aby ThaDood - Medium Wave Logs
It is happening, and will probably close-up this weekend, when that nasty cold spell comes through.Late at night, try doing a rescan on your OTA TV and see what new TV stations come through. Last night, every Weather FREQ was hopping from Central KY and Central OH on the scanner. So, the Tropo seems to be happening. YEA!!!!!!by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Never seen one, but looks like a neat 1960's luchbox radio. Huh... The only things that I have that are Hitachi are their early 1980's CrO2 Cassettes. While we're at it, how about Radio Jay's review of the Sony TFM-7300? Looks like another really neat portable.by ThaDood - The Workshop
That cold spell, once those T-storms moved out, was nice for the HF Low Bands, but this full week of High Pressure, and above average warm weather, could make for some neat Tropo Propagation for VHF / UHF, for the Eastern Part of the USA and Canada. (You'll need to scroll-over to view North America.) So, could be Scanner's, TV, FM'ers, and VHF / UHF weak-signal deluxe. If anything, it's borroby ThaDood - General radio discussion
Sounds like it would be neat, but FREQ programming and memory storing via a card, doesn't make me want this.by ThaDood - The Workshop
Neat. Where did I hear about this place? Monitoring DX CB'ers on CH38LSB.by ThaDood - The Workshop
Well, looks like a neat portable.by ThaDood - The Workshop
It's been suggested that I start saving useful pages from the Wayback Machine. Like, this one on Part 15 Q&A: Still, good INFO.by ThaDood - General radio discussion
VID from ALPB: Hmmmmmmmm... Don't see why this also wouldn't work on the newer Radio Systems version. Does it take out the Phantom Phase MOD?by ThaDood - The Workshop
Huh... Woke-up this morning to this Radio Survivor airing on WTSQ-LP, I heard about this coming out, but was neat to hear the authur being interviewed. UPDATE, Friday, 10/6/2023: Apparently, since it's College Radio Day, Radio Survivor banged-out another one for that in RS #304 podcast, Enjoy!!!!!!by ThaDood - General radio discussion
Well, well, well... Got word from the HFU side's NJQA, that the employees of All Electronics started their own company and call it Are Electronics. Here's the copy: "All Electronics is now closed, but some of their employees have started their own business, selling many of the items All Electronics carried. Their URL: Use coupon code “allcorp” for a 10% discount. More productby ThaDood - General radio discussion
This looks a lot more portable than that godzeye antenna that I've built a decade ago. And yes, SWL'ing rip.by ThaDood - The Workshop
