Just downloaded a full color "Voice of Portugal" eQSL for last evenings' broadcast. I, for one, couldn't tell that the cow was Moooing in Portuguese, but I no speeka da language anyhow! ;) Thanks much, I think...by jtart - General radio discussion
Weak but audible under WWV and WWVH - but definitely *NOT* BPM (China). Heard five time pips leading up to the hour (0200Z) and some CW after (probably ID), then gone. Nothing in any of my references matches. Any idea(s)?by jtart - Other logs
I'm in western NY State. Heard them a couple times in early February but haven't heard 'em since. Given the vagarities of propagation, you have as good a chance as anyone else of hearing them. Gottum several days in a row around 1230UTC and one day around 1745UTC with the best signal I've ever gotten from them. Nuttin' since.by jtart - Other logs
That be the one! Thanks for the mailing addy. Next time I hear 'em, I'll send a report.by jtart - Other logs
Frequency and date photo card received with NIST/WWVH flyer in 25 days for a mailed report. Chased that one for two years!by jtart - Other logs

Speaking of ItalCable, I received a full data card from them today for my 15 MHz reception on 01 Feb, so 23 days - for an email report. Card gives everything *except* the xmtr power, which I've heard is 90 watts.by jtart - Other logs
WWV present, but not dominant. PPE, Brazil, quite good with anmts every 10 seconds in PP. BPM audible in the background just prior to 2300Z with off-set time pips and CW ID. Also some idling RTTY. Busy frequency!by jtart - Other logs
Very weak and fadey into WNY. Heard bits of music between long, deep fades in serious QRN from T-storms somewhere. Not bad for 75 watts from the Canary Islands, however!by jtart - Free Radio Logs
It was audible as late as about 0045 UTC, but not there at 0200 re-check. If it was manually done, it was fairly sloppy. But after two (or more) hours, I guess one would expect that...by jtart - Other logs
Looking for YVTO with WWV almost completely non-existent, I heard uneven (almost as if it was done by hand!) 1 kHz pips, roughly 2 per second, with a slightly longer pip on the minute. No voice announcements heard while I was listening. (YVTO is supposed to make voice anmts between :52 and :57 in SS.) Still going at 2314 UTC. Anyone else hearing this? Any ideas?by jtart - Other logs
Good signal into WNY. Dr Benway hawking T-shirts - with all the proceeds going to the Wounded Warriors Project, a great thing to do for veterans. Signing off at 0155.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Somebody might. Whatever - they're back up now...by jtart - General radio discussion
(Barely) audible again from tune-in about 1345 UTC. Very weak signal with long, deep fades. But hey, it's 50 watts all the way from Finland! Still haven't found an address for it... :(by jtart - Other logs
Just tried to read the latest on HF Underground and couldn't connect. Wonder if they're having problems? Last I knew they boasted of 100% up-time...by jtart - General radio discussion
S6 to S7 into WNY with oddball electronic music and frequent IDs as WEAK Radio. Haven't heard them in quite a while!by jtart - Free Radio Logs
In the August, 1960, issue of Popular Electronics, the "Short-Wave Report" claimed that a new SW station was being built in Dallas, Texas, to operate on 15180 kHz with the callsign KFRN. I'm not aware that it ever operated, but I don't know everything. Does anyone remember the station? Or was this another "NDXE"?by jtart - General radio discussion
Great for Valentine's Day! Got a large card (#2) and refridgerator magnet from My New Underpants for the 02 Nov 13 broadcast. Thanks, Ben!by jtart - General radio discussion
In there as I type this: 02/13, 1740+ UTC, with maybe the best signal I've had from them. Peaking about a S1...by jtart - Other logs
Maybe another relay of the Dutch pirate "Kool AM Radio"? Strange time, but...by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Nope. Just the standard beep, beep, beep all the time...by jtart - Other logs
While thought-provoking, I suspect most cash-strapped AM broadcasters would prefer to NOT have to spend more money on new equipment to move to VHF. Most AM stations are progammed straight from the satellite to save money that otherwise would have to be paid for "air talent" and board operators. And the owners are still just getting by. So interesting yes, but not likely. At least notby jtart - General radio discussion
Again this morning from about 1255UTC until after 1330. As usual, weak sig and nuttin' but time pips. Anyone got an address for this?by jtart - Other logs
That, or you're not listening early enough... They were in there again this morning!by jtart - Other logs
Heard time pips (beeps) at 25 MHz. Knowing that WWV doesn't use this frequency any more, I did some searching and have determined that it's most likely a new time station out of Espoo, Finland. Signal ranged from quite good (S4-S5) to nuttin', with long deep fades. Nothing heard except the time pips - no CW ID on the hour or voice announcements. Expect to spend some time getting this one - duringby jtart - Other logs
I remember them well... First heard them with 5kW on a portable radio while visiting my sister in CT. Again with 15kW from home in WNY. Very clear, since there were no other stations on 1620 in those days. Have QSL certificated from both receptions. I even met Dave once or twice at hamfests - selling parts! Wonder if that's how he financed the Big One?by jtart - General radio discussion
Found All India Radio on 11740 by accident - they were playing some great tabla and sitar music. Then M & W read some listeners letters in English. Fair to good signal (peaking about S7) with CNR way in the background. Back to music 2135.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
Found them decent prior to the English segment, so stayed tuned. M read the news in EE from 1800 to 1810, then YL in lang thereafter. First time I've heard the English portion. Holding S5 to S7 into WNY.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
Was checking the Time and Frequency Standard stations this morning and discovered some wierd conditions, for sure. 15 MHz - *no trace* of WWV, WWVH, or even BPM. Instead, there was SRC15, the ItalCable station, very weakly from 1226 until after 1300 UTC. They run 90 watts from Northern Italy. ereport sent. 10 MHz - BPM (China) waayyy over WWV/WWVH. Not needed, but they haven't verified my pby jtart - Other logs
Just another music and ID station - stuck in the 60s and 70s. Boring! Why does anyone relay it?by jtart - Free Radio Logs
