An old "radio friend" has died: Arnie "Woo-Woo" Ginsberg was an evening DJ on WMEX - 1510 in Boston back in the late 1950s and early 60s. I listened to him in bits and pieces - when WKBW (1520) faded down WMEX usually faded up, so I always had rock and roll for my listening pleasure. The het I've been hearing isn't what you're hearing: The het disappears around 10 p.m., most likely WHLI ending their extended hours. Once they go off the frequency is nice and clear here with WTAM dominating and no 10Hz SubAudible Carrier. Conclusion: Probably closer to you and/or fairly low power. Has anyone else reported hearing this?

In English from prior to 4 a.m. ET until fade-out around 6:30 a.m. with something called "Ancient Word Radio", a soft-sell religious program, audible at or just above the noise level. Compared to 9395, 9455 and 9955 kHz, this is obviously beamed somewhere other than NAm. Is it a late afternoon program for Africa or an early morning program for SAm?

Offline due to computer failure; just got back on... 11610AM, 03/18, 1800-1811*. Snippets of music in several genres and announcement: "You are listening to a test transmission" and back to music. My computer was on the fritz; just got it back today. 1710 kHz, 05/04, 0005-0020. Came on out of the blue with a S9+ signal - WAY over Hudson County - with light instrumental music. Played three tracks and disappeared. No voice heard. 1630 kHz, 05/24, 1030. HAR mixing with and mostly over KCJJ. Gave three IDs and mentioned Buffalo. "OK, It's traffic time..." Still on mixing with dominant KCJJ, mostly under but came up loud and clear for one ID around 2100Z. First time clearly heard on this frequency. Not heard on 1710.

Uninterrupted instrumental xmas music from tune-in to present with no anmts or ID heard. Peaking about 10 dB over S9 into WNY. Pretty steady signal. Bet it's not from the North Pole... Around 0120Z a Brit-sounding M ancr came on with a lot of chatter over the music. Claimed to be from Lapland. Still no IDs heard.

A little over S9 into WNY on the Pro3. Same shouting DJ playing oldies. Frequent IDs as Tater Patch Radio and WPEX - 90.9. Not a trace of Springfield, Hudson County, or Flight 93 HARs.

Instrumental music with no anmts at all. I've been listening for about an hour with no IDs. Definitely not Tater Patch Radio; another site sez Radio Corsair, but you couldn't prove it by me. Nice signal despite the QRN level - 10 over S9 on peaks! M ancr at 0134Z with ID as Radio Corsair. Also gave email addy but I didn't copy it. Also sed he'd be back in two or three days.

Boogie-Woogie and blues music with good modulation, and YL ancr who is intelligible. Poor to Fair signal into WNY. Deep, complete fade-outs and only fair on peaks. Little heard of Hudson Cty, NJ. At 0000Z YL with ID for 90-something FM "WPEX" - so Tater Patch Radio. Sure enough, the same shouting M ancr made an appearance. Conditions are not great tonight...

I've heard this previously but here they are again. Apparent Tater Patch Radio with yelling young male announcer and a variety of rock music. ID by yelling DJ who said he was on until "11 o'clock". Fairly strong signal - completely drowning out Hudson Cty HAR at times, but also fading out almost completely in between peaks. No trace of Springfield Armory or Flight 93 HARs. Produced I

They run Bloomberg Radio on Sundays (at least), and the signal got fairly good around local sunset, but every time they did a local ID they faded to unreadable. The NRC log shows nobody carrying Bloomberg. Any ideas?

Decent signal into WNY - waayyy over the Hudson Cty HAR and the Flt 93 Memorial HAR - sometimes up to a S7 on the Pro3. Right after 0000 there were two clear IDs, then they began the Ultimate Party program with the same yelling DJ I heard last time. At the moment (0011Z) they're about even with several HAR stations.
