Rcvd a full data photo card from them today; five days total elapsed time! And their stamp didn't get cancelled, either. Heh-heh-heh...by jtart - Other logs
Rumor is that they're buying WQEW - 1560, NYC, for $12 million. Ohhh, no! Have pity on my poor ears!!by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Well, that will probably bury Radio Thailand on 9390 kHz mornings - better gettum NOW if you needum! And since International treaties prohibit the "commercialization of shortwave" I have to wonder how they'll accomplish that? I always wondered why Joe Constello didn't run adverts for international airlines, Coca Cola, and things like that on WRNO years back - apparently he couldn't dby jtart - General radio discussion
About the best signal I've ever had from them: S9! They were as loud this morning as Radio Australia on 9580, and waayyy louder than New Zealand on 9700. English sked from 1230 to 1300 UTC.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
Last I heard they were selling off stations. Where are they getting the money to buy the Disnet stations?by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
Wow! Just received my September print issue. They must be catching up..? Wonder when I'll get the October issue?by jtart - General radio discussion
'twas Renegade Radio, also heard in WNY with decent sig and "grinder" QRM.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
QSL folder rcvd in 23 days for my report. Not a vintage QSL, but what the heck...by jtart - Other logs
Also here in WNY peaking S9 and fading to S5; open carrier and CW IDs every ten minutes on 1750 kHz. Supposed to be 1 kW.by jtart - Other logs
If I'm not mistaken, it's as accurate as all their other frequencies. Should be A-OK.by jtart - Other logs
Weak signal fading in and out here in WNY with M ancr talking about Yahweh. First time I've heard this one in a while.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
I've posted my QSLs right in the forum where I posted my logs, but that does make for some difficulty searching the logs. If you're talking about posting pix of QSLs and shacks, I don't know if the software permits it - but I do think it's a good idea. How about it Cos?by jtart - General radio discussion
Believe it or not, I just received my AUGUST print issue! Not too late! I have never bothered to sign up for that Zinio reader and don't plan to.by jtart - General radio discussion
On and off with YL ancr giving ID and frequency, played "We're Not Gonna Take It" in between. Decent signal into WNY.by jtart - Free Radio Logs
In again this afternoon with a nice steady signal. Even Bram should be able to hear 'em! ;)by jtart - Other logs
First time heard since April! Found with a decent signal at 2011. Typical high-frequency propogation: long, slow fades but decent long peaks. Signal ranging from S1 to S6. Space weather by YL at :18. Full ID at :30.by jtart - Other logs
Has CQ Pubs ceased all print publishing? I haven't received a "hard copy" since July. (Now watch: Monday I'll get the August issue! Just my luck...)by jtart - General radio discussion
I'd like to remind you about the North American Pirate (radio) Hall of Fame. Many of America's all-time best-loved Free Radio stations and personalities already have pages with a bio, QSLs and other graphics, and sometimes audio clips. Check it out at: NEW: Beginning sometime today (29Mar15) the new landing page will be installed, featuring a slide show of various Free Radio QSL cards. Thby jtart - General radio discussion
A first for me - caught 'em in English finishing a long anthem at 1310UTC, ID by YL, then news read by M. Around :20 they played some martial and operatic music with occasional comments. Program ended about :55 but xmtr stayed on. New program in French began at 1400Z. Originally peaked about 20 db over S9, but dropped to S4-S5 by 1430. Country #118 heard...by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
I was a little preoccupied and not taking good notes at the time, but this a bit like a cross between The Crooked Man and Cell Phone Radio. Obvious recording of two ham operators talking about being in Berkeley (CA) in the 60s and Bay Area radio stations, including KSFO and KMPX, then song "You're A Dick-Head". The program ended with a heavily processed ID and an email addy at gmail.comby jtart - Free Radio Logs
So that's what happened! I tuned around yesterday about 1330 EDT and the bands were ded, dead, DEAD! WWV was inaudible on 10 and 15 MHz, and only somewhat audible on 20 MHz. I barely got any signal on WRMI and WTWW in the 31m band, and they're usually 50 to 55 db strong here. It all makes sense now...by jtart - General radio discussion
On at 0859 with IS x2, into music (possible anthem), and YL ancr with possible news. Supposed to be in EE at this time. Signal would be clear except for a massive signal from Australia on 12080. Will have to try again at 1530-1600.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
Yesterday, weak but clear signal from domestic broadcaster Radio Nikkei - 9595 kHz with classical music. YL ancr at 1230 and into possible news by M thereafter. Signal deteriorating rapidly. Today, much better signal at 0805-0830 with radio drama.by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
I think it's an *excellent* opportunity to tell the NAB (and the FCC) where to go. I pretty much stopped watching TV years ago - as the old song said, "57 channels and nothing on"... Today all you have to choose from are a bunch of dumb talk shows and dumber "reality" shows (that are nowhere near reality) and absolutely nothing worth a dime per month, let alone $70/mo and risiby jtart - General radio discussion
Very nice AM signal into WNY - S9 to 10db over - with techno. Very familiar-sounding M ancr with repeated IDs and gmail addy at sign-on. Way better than the usual summer Sunday morning!by jtart - Free Radio Logs
Shure SME type II tone arm, complete with anti-skate weight and mounting instructions. No box, but will be packed well for shipping. If you play vinyl you need this tone arm. Asking $100 shipped. Can also supply a new Stanton cartridge for $25 if needed.by jtart - The Swap Shop
Got a b&w frequency and date only card from Radio Tirana in the mail today for a May 27th log and report - 73 days. Country #77 verified. At this rate it may take me another 20 years to get 100 countries QSLd! Certainly not like it used to be...by jtart - Shortwave Broadcast Logs
Nuttin' here just prior to 1600. And I mean *nuttin'*!by jtart - Medium Wave Logs
None of this crap is going to help "save" AM radio. The time to do something to save it was long ago, probably before the AM stereo debacle. Opening a FM translator window will only further clog the FM band with the same garbage that's on AM now. What's the point? Or is that the point? Modifying daytime and/or nightime coverage standards will only increase the jumble of noise on tby jtart - General radio discussion
