I've used those regulators so much, smooth the power supply to radios, and built with them to power circuits, especially good to use the positive and negative ones, like 12 volt 7812 and 7912 for op-amp circuits used on dual voltage.

That page is great and explains everything I want to have it on the screen at my bench.
