On my drive home from work this time of year, the local medium wave band here is very depressing, and there's nothing really interesting on FM either. So since i pass through some relatively rural parts of the county, I've been tuning to the far out bands on my delco truck radio to see what's there. Notably, the 1710, WQFG 689, from Hudson County, New Jersey, has been a regular here sporadically between 2300 and 0030 daily since January 6. This station plays pre-recorded messages by real humans switching between male and female voices advising about things like how to avoid getting the flu and what you should you do if you get the flu (wash your hands frequently and cover your coughs, etc.) Confirmed with "WGFQ six eight nine" ID on January 6 at around 0015.
