23:52 (7:52 pm local) tune in to song Shattered Dreams

23:54 Duran Duran's Hungry Like The Wolf

23:58 'Black Cat Systems has been producing programs. You can download dozens of programs for Mac.. blackcatsystems com..' ad.

00:00 You're tuned in to Hobby Broadcasting Radio.. This is a pirate radio DX program. Wow, at first I thought this was Mix radio.

00:02 'Welcome to Hobby Broadcasting Radio.. back after a hiatus..'

Excerpts of various other pirate radio stations.

00:28 'Thanks for listening to Hobby Broadcast Radio' sign off with e-mail address, good night. Black Kitty Systems ad once more, with their programs.

00:31 ABC's The Look Of Love song. Great tune, since video features a Sheepdog.

00:35 Song with chorus 'Down on the street' Classy soul takes me back to 1982, even though I don't know this track.

00:38 Yaz - Don't Go

00:41 Mix Radio International ID 'Thanks for joining us'. Disco song where she has to find a man. Familiar but not fully. Typical of early 80s keyboard sound, Sylvester, Patrick Cowley.

00:44 Fine Young Cannibals I think, I call this song 'Gooseneck' because that's what I thought they were saying when I heard it back then, but it's Good Thing.

00:47 Broadcasting .. This is Mix, Into Captain Sensible's 'Wot' This sounds like a BBC chart show from 1981, or Rock Over London! Now I'm waiting for like, Toto Coelo, Spandau Ballet, Human League, OMD, Associates. I was on AM radio, playing all this stuff at the time.

00:51 ID, produced, and now, of course, Feels Like I'm In Love by Kelly Marie, had to look up her name, forgot that.

00:54 The station with the best music produced ID. I remember this song, Motown strings, fine little thing Shout To The Top? Net says, The Style Council - Shout To The Top, oh yeah, I remember these guys.

00:58 Reggae pop, Don't turn around?

01:01 Love And Pride, I think it's by King, that's what comes to mind for the band. Oh wow, I realised they're playing like Duran Duran in this.

01:05 Neverending Story, forgot the band's name, soundtrack.

01:08 Duran Darnit, Girls On Film, I would sing 'Dogs On Film' to this.

01:11 ID, broadcasting from America, into Kim Wilde's Kids In America.

01:15 'With the finest mix and the finest sound' ID I remember this tune, Don't Pay The Ferryman, from our local AOR station.

01:18 A, B and C again, The Look Of Love. They should play the long version with the sampling keyboard.

01:22 Blondie's Call Me

01:25 I know this voice, Jerry Knight? Sampling on the Fairlight?

01:29 I remember this, 'Get out of your lazy bed' lyric, like old swing. Needs Puttin' On The Ritz next.. :)

01:33 Feels Like Heaven

01:36 Blame It On The Boogie MJ cover

01:40 Kim Wilde's View From A Bridge

01:44 Sounds like Eurythmics 'words don't come easy.' then their song Respect.

01:52 Jammin'

01:54 ID 'Going out world wide' into Let's Go To Bed with The Cure, their first hit?

01:58 Ain't No Stopping Us Now. Waterfall logos started above the frequency, pirate ship, red pepper, MRI, Bermuda Triangle, Hot Mix, Skull, bat, HFU, Mix written like Meow Mix. Bandwidth reducd to 6 khz.

02:02 Human League - The Lebanon, haven't heard for years.

02:05 Can't fight the moonlight?

02:09 Imagination - Music And Lights

02:13 Eurythmics, sounds like the song is Sometimes

02:16 Dose of Italo started, cut off, new song started in 10 seconds, song in French begins.

02:22 When Smokey Sings by A-B-C, their biggest hit in the USA?

02:26 Doctor Beat

02:31 Duran Duran - Union Of The Snake

02:35 Loads of Mix picture icons on the waterfall between 3 and 6 khz.

Audio: Hobby Broadcast and Mix radio

Ha, I was going to get out of here in ten minutes to do something else, but the programming and good signal kept me locked in.

10 khz audio bandwidth, has a particular really strong audio compression that brings up every sound ,even hiss on the, tape? Transmitter op adjusted bandwidth downward during the broadcast for the voice audio apparently.

Audio is great, I think it could be this tight and loud but less strenuous to the ear, with some careful adjustment. Every beat or sibilance that has to recover is lost RF power in AM. No doubt it's tight, but jumpy, like listening to a Dolby C tape with no Dolby, or even DBX, compression release is super fast.

The initial impression is ultimate loudness, but that can be monotonic, I don't think I'd have lasted as long without the selective fades adding their flavor. Could some of it be the WEB-888? Can't complain, I'm compelled to listen, right? It's unique sound

Nice to hear something different, as there's not a lot of talk programming on the shortwave pirates, then the 80s 'New Romantic' British chart music was a winner.
