Someone using a net receiver (and failing to state so in his report) would, indeed, be a "cheater". Absolutely! That's more in line with these SDR catches made while the listener is elsewhere or doing something else. In both cases the listener did NOT hear the station on his own equipment by his own hand.
As I mentioned elsewhere, I have nothing against SDRs - hell, I have one. But to claim the you heard something that the SDR recorded while you made a beer run is just plain false.
To me there's a "right" way and a "wrong" way to do things. Claiming to have heard things that YOU did not actually hear is the "wrong" way. It is cheating. And what satisfaction do you get out of that?
My opinion. YMMV.
