(The slow death of analog radio has been talked about for years. Shortwave was the 1st to take a hit years ago with dramatically reduced listenership.)

"There are no plans to abandon analog radio in the U.S., said Dan Wharton, an executive vice president at the NAB."

"On FM, Norwegians can only find five stations. On the Digital Audio Broadcasting network, there are four times that number."

(Above url has good insight on what's going on.)

"Protests rose almost immediately, since the move will basically render conventional radios worthless without adapters and force many consumers to buy new DAB radios."

"We saw this sort of conversion when people moved from older TVs to flat-screen TVs. It’s just part of technological development."
