I'm hearing what sounds like an unstable local oscillator drifting around the 43m band. In sideband it's like a warbly carrier, and it slowly drifts up the band and then back down.
It occurs about every 43 kHz; e.g.: This morning it was on 6905, 6948, and 6991 kHz.
I don't believe it's anything inside my home, and the neighboring homes are a substantial distance away (like, not right next door). I'm thinking it may be something in the Highway Dept barn, which is about 70-75 yards away. Of course, I could be wrong about all of that.
I do use CFL lamps (except at the radio desk - that one is an LED bulb) and have never had any noise whatsoever from them. I have a programmable thermostat if that's a consideration; however, I have the noise even in the summer when that is turned off.
Any ideas? I'd love to find out what it is and fix it one way or another.
Thanks for your feedback! jta
