I saw someone post that they didn't care, who needs it in Canada when North America has WWV.

Does it really cost that much money to keep a standard time signal running, all things considered? The frequency standard tech has to be improved a lot since decades ago, smaller, easier to keep in line, and how much power do the transmitters use?
