Tropo

Earlier this afternoon a storm front went through, and as the frogs and bugs in the yard were celebrating loudly at a couple of inches of rain, some long distance FM came in. Our closest 89.7, WTMD Towson/Baltimore MD, is fringy here at best, and at 0000 or so their regular broadcast of "The World Cafe" (from XPN Philadelphia) was trading places with a newscast by a guy with a bit of a Canadian accent, giving the local news, mentioning New Brunswick and people "in hospital." Didn't catch an ID on that one before he faded away, but around the dial the FMs from 100-200 miles away were doing great against the crowded band here. Heard a emergency weather alert from WCEI 96.7 in Easton on Maryland's eastern shore - watch out Federalsburg, the storm's coming your way. Also, 94.5 WDAC Lancaster PA, praising the lord with the saccharine music, The River 95.3 Front Royal VA with some classic hits by the Bee Gees, XL102.1 Richmond VA with a rock song and into a talk show called "Sixx Sense." There were other rarely heard FMs all over the band, and only a couple of channels were without a distant station or obliterated by a local.
