Well, at 1010 local time on 7850 kHz they pulled the plug on CHU. One minute it was there, then off. Gone. Nada. Bupkiss.
I kept the IQ recorder going, I figured them lawless, disrespectful Commie Pinko Pirates would ne doing something and, by Holy Ronald Reagan, there they were!

All kinds of stuff including Dick Bulger dot com on USB and a whole bunch of other stuff on both sidebands. (I was always a Buzzy's man myself - nothing like one of those unsanitary bowel bursters after a wild evening at the Channel or the Rat!)

Good signal though up here in Maine on the RSP1B.
I don't know, for some reason I feel better when I listen to WDOG, they speak to me. I knew or have heard almost every song played tonight, or knew who the artist was. Great stuff from the 'Dancehall days'

Good signal all along, nice bass on a sideband signal that was locked on frequency for easy tuning, and clean audio, though phasing in the signal later on. I don't mind it, listening to distant AM stations, it doesn't bother me.

Recording and listening, mostly not logging the times, listen to the audio.

Curious mix of punk and underground rock, soul with what sounded like Miles Davis, mixed with Daddy Rich from the Car Wash movie, black poetry and spoken word, sounded like a college station late at night. Certainly different that what you usually hear on the shortwave airwave.
10 khz wide audio, real clear, no ultra compression as some of the sidebanders use, easy listening, with nice dynamics. Trying with the AGC off during the AC-DC, there was serious dynamic range, punch, great job, different!

Deep bass. Frequency sounded off at times, but could have been the SDR correcting? Going +10 to +25 hz seemed to fix it, at least it was a try, I couldn't get it to sound coherent.
I felt I somehow had a psychic connection with what this station was going to be doing before the opener, Birdland, I heard the opening and thought, could it be, no way, but it was, a Spock thing between animals, I guess.. :)

Well this station did catch me, thrilling broadcast from a station I never heard before! I was glued to the radio, WEB-888 SDR.
Bandwidth is at least 4 khz and on frequency, making it easy to tune and listen to. Signal solid at all times, it wasn't going anywhere! Audio is really clear, I could hear the lyrics well, it was like good AM.

Six stations on and one time under great band conditions!
Finally a station without the crunched audio like other SSB stations lately, and a more balanced, flat frequency response where you can hear the bass. It sounds like good AM.
Good 80s mix, with lesser known tunes! Carrier within a few hertz of 6935, and stable. Audio has the kind of 'older' modulation quality you heard on AM stations, like a local college AM carrier current station, running an LPB audio processor, a sound like WPGH had here in the 80s, or WYEP FM in the mono days, distinctive.

01:54 ID 'Going out world wide' into Let's Go To Bed with The Cure, their first hit?

Ha, I was going to get out of here in ten minutes to do something else, but the programming and good signal kept me locked in.

10 khz audio bandwidth, has a particular really strong audio compression that brings up every sound ,even hiss on the, tape? Transmitter op adjusted bandwidth downward during the broadcast for the voice audio apparently.

Audio is great, I think it could be this tight and loud but less strenuous to the ear, with some careful adjustment. Every beat or sibilance that has to recover is lost RF power in AM. No doubt it's tight, but jumpy, like listening to a Dolby C tape with no Dolby, or even DBX, compression release is super fast.

The initial impression is ultimate loudness, but that can be monotonic, I don't think I'd have lasted as long without the selective fades adding their flavor. Could some of it be the WEB-888? Can't complain, I'm compelled to listen, right? It's unique sound

Nice to hear something different, as there's not a lot of talk programming on the shortwave pirates, then the 80s 'New Romantic' British chart music was a winner.

Very good, and it is FM-like frequency response. I know, it's great to hear actual treble in a shortwave broadcast, I LOVE wide frequency response!

It sounds better if you increase the AGC decay time to 4000 milliseconds on your radio, I thought it sounded better.

Nice Signal this week, might have been helped by getting the antenna out from under snow and off of the ground. but good signal and band is quiet here. SAM synch mode used since signal was selectively fading.

Stern Radio was down at 6944, no clashing sidebands.

Good signal tonight, getting some static build-up with rainy conditions coming. There were some long fades and some data a kilohertz above, on 6961, and another station below to avoid, but generally it was heard all night.

Thanks BallSmacker!

Good signal tonight, no interference from junk like sounders or digital noise, but there was a higher background hiss level than there has been on the band generally, likely from warming temperatures. Signal hit some levels over S9, and had some fades, including selective, so I went to SAM on the Pittsburgh WEB-888 SDR.

Thank you BallSMacker!
