APRIL FOOLS!!!
3-31-98 We were planning an major update to the FRN site and got the idea to do it on April 1st and play a joke on all of our friends. We deleted the old FRN site and replaced it with the page you see above. Many people suspected a prank, others suspected that we had been hacked, and some were sure the FCC had shut us down! However many people saw it as a joke from the beginning. We left a few clues to give it away, however few spotted them, the most obvious was the FCC hyperlink suddenly changed to a link to www.disney.com a few hours into it. It was hillarious! We received over 200 emails and dozens of phone calls within the first 10 hours!! The overwhelming reaction showed us that the FRN is still worthwhile and that we have a lot of friends out there, thanks!
But we can't finish this without saying...... WE GOTCHA !!

......I'm quite disturbed by what's happened to FRN.
.......Everyone's clamoring for an explanation; How and why
did the FCC deactivate the site, and what's their supposed

......I'll bet it was because Pat Murphy was on the Art Bell show last week. Who
should we complain to about this Nazi thought police action?
.....from my uneducated guess it looks like the FCC has used some oppressive
law to shut it down, including the Grapevine. Does this mean the FCC wants to
use info from it to investigate the posters? So much for freedom of the press
on the internet.

but a message said it had been deactivated by the FCC pending
