We get hundreds of emails every week. Here we have compiled a list of commonly asked questions and our answers to them.

Q: WHY?

A: The FRN exists for a couple of reasons, first it is here for free radio listeners and radio station operators to exchange ideas and communicate. The FRN is a meeting place for a global community of free radio supporters. Second, the FRN is here to spread the word about free radio and provide information to the community at large. Third, we are here to suppress the uncontrollable urge to burn stuff.

Q: Is Free Radio Illegal?

A: In most cases, yes. However the issue is very complex and there are many different views. There are several groups who are actively seeking to make low power radio, legal.

Q: Is the FRN a club?

A: No, anyone can visit the site and use the information provided within. However the FRN is not responsible for the accuracy or legality of any information on this site.

Q: Will you help me build a free radio station or tell me where to buy the needed equipment?

A: No, please stop sending email asking us to do so.

Q: Can you send me a list of free radio stations or tell me who operates them?

A: Sure, just send a self addressed stamped envelope and 12 million dollars.

Q. If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the others have to drown also?

A: Yes they do.

Q: Does the FCC ever visit the FRN website?

A: Yes, frequently

Q: I have a band and I want to get my music into the hands of free radio stations, can you send them my (CDs, Tapes, Mp3s)?

A: We can help with this sometimes but not always, you may email us with your request and we will let you know if we can help or not. DO NOT attach your 8mb MP3 to the email!

Q:How is the FRN funded?

A: We are funded entirely with your US tax dollars.

Q: What is free radio? and what is the difference between free radio, pirate radio, and LPFM?

A: We dont have time to email everyone and explain years of evolution in the free radio movement. This can not be explained in a brief email. This site is here to provide you with that information. Everything you need to know is here, Read it. Please dont ask us to do your research for you.

Q: Will you add a link to my website?

A: Feel free to send us the URL, we will review it when we update the links section. PLEASE NOTE, this does not mean we will add your link immediately, or ever. Please do not send repeated requests, whine, complain, or send hate mail because you dont see your link here (get a life!). This site is maintained on a volunteer basis as the authors time permits.

Q: Will you marry me?

A: Do you have any money?

Q: May I send you our (insert station or cause name here) email newsletter with all kinds of cool info about our (insert station or cause name here) and what we had for lunch and our cool opinions about (insert cause or topic here) and when we plan to broadcast next and why and how and to whome and for how long and what frequency and with what equipment and how many watts and what type of antenna and who we plan to kill or maime or protest or stalk...................

A: Not unless we ask for it. Its not that we dont care, but with over 100 emails daily it is very unlikely we will take time to read it.

Q: Who made you boss?

A: Your mom.

Q: May I send you nude photos of my wife, girlfriend, hooker, or slut?

A: Yes.

Q: Do you like cats?

A: Yes, they taste just like chicken.
